  1. How could we be talking about beating a dead horse already? I don't care about discussing the whole Marshall thing again...it's just the one that comes to mind.
  2. After the NAMM show, there have been a ton of threads regarding new gear, and recent gear that has come out. So, what do you guys think is the biggest piece of Overrated or Overpriced (or both) gear out there? I would probably have to go with the insanely priced 1 Watt Marshall amps...
  3. Why not? Chances are that 98% of your audience would not be able to tell the difference...lower stage volumes are nice...

  5. Thanks everyone for the feedback and suggestions. Against the recommendation of many of you, I ended up ordering a Hot Rod Deluxe III. Love the Hot Rod series. Miss my Hot Rod...wouldn't mind having a Blues Junior one of these days... Congrats!
  6. hmm. lots of options in here. I did go with the generic SKB case. I guess I'll see how it holds up. nothing like personal experience to figure out what works. In the end, its jut a case Was it the same price? Nice cases, for sure...just more money for some reason...
  7. Very nice case but I've heard that they don't offer a lifetime warranty which is something you'd expect when paying that much for a case. Or maybe I heard wrong? do the Wolfpack cases have the same warranty?
  8. The plastic Gator uses for their cases always feels cheaper somehow than SKB's... I have some Gator stuff, and it's fine...just an observation I've had...
  9. Yeah, that one looks a little better. Less plasticy. Not sure I'd pay the extra $30 for it, but it is a cleaner look. Don't do it. I have owned both cases. While they are both made by SKB, the Fender case is thicker, and offers much more protection. Just a much better case, imo. Sold mine like the one pictured above...have not missed it. I've seen the Fender model as low as $79...which is a STEAL for a great case.
  10. Once you go tweed, you never go back. I went tweed once...went back fast...
  11. This. Oh yes. I want to get one for one of my Strats sometime. And at a hundred bucks, that's getting irresistible. This...or if you want zippers, a Wolfpack...
  12. Even as arguably their biggest fan here, I can see your side of this. I have, at times, questioned their sincerity and dedication to the message (especially during the Against The Law era and with their recent cover album) and I will be the first to admit that some of their lyrics are cringeworthy. I have to say, though, that taking the stand that they did at the time they did it undoubtedly HURT them in terms of popularity. In terms of raw talent, they were one of the best of the Hair Metal era, yet they got nowhere near the airplay of less talented bands starting out because of their lyrics. They were in a no-man's land... Secular radio would not play them, Christian record stores would not carry them. It took the crossover hit (and one of my LEAST favorite of their songs) "Honestly" to put them on the map. I was in the same state of despair as others have mentioned. I was dabbling in drugs and Satanism and headed on a path to destruction. Say what you will, but there is no doubt that I was being influenced by culture including the lyrics of the music I was listening to, and Stryper and other "White Metal" bands that followed allowed me to enjoy the style of music I loved without being innundated with lyrics glorifying Satan and the carnal pleasures of this world. They changed my life forever and helped shape my eternity, so I can look past some of their more insipid lyrics and the cheese factor of their stage presence to be a fan of their music and the guys in general, who have always been some of the nicest and most humble rock stars you could meet. Agreed...they were far ahead of their time, and even though they are kinda cheesy with their lyrics sometimes, you cannot deny their playing is/was on par with most other stuff out there. Oz Fox is a stellar guitar player, and Michael Sweet isn't bad, either. Crazy that they are still making music after all these years. New album should be interesting.
  13. Yamaha RGX A2 used to see those all the time at GC. Made out of some lightweight material...very light. Don't remember much about the tone, but the lights were cool...
  14. I never listened to Stryper when I was in high school but I am very thankful for the genre they created. I think because of Stryper there are bands like Skillet, Pillar, POD and even a band not as "heavy" like The Newsboys. Yup...LOVE those bands...not huge into Pillar, but POD and Skillet are amazing, as are the the Newsboys.
  15. I wouldn't say I'm a huge Stryper fan, but they certainly were ahead of their time, specifically for the genre they were playing to. I'm surprised at how good they still sound, nearly 30 years later. Michael Sweet still has some serious pipes! 16. Def this! And stay away from UPS Stores they will rape you! Fed Ex ground is best and if you can ship through where you work better yet... ^^This...
  17. Man, tough crowd out there. I listed my 2006 MIM 60th Anniversary Strat (The real Blizzard Pearl model) w. 60th Gig bag with a $349 opening bid and that was all I got. That really surprised me because these are so much better than the MIM Standards and ahve a near USA Strat feel to them. I listed My Michael Dolsey Goldtop with an opening bid of $299 (my min) and that was all I got. The Michael Dolsey was an Epi Goldtop killer and I really expected to do better. My mint Michael Kelly Patriot Custom also went at my min bid at $299. Jeezus, I could have traded the last 2 in at GC and got that. Did you sell it for that? Wouldn't mind having one of those...
  18. I'm doubtful of that since they have all three colors still in stock and the SDotD was the last batch of GTs. I did notice that the White HB (w/ ebony board) is marked down to the level of the pre-SDotD GT, so maybe they will blow that one out. Thanks for the congrats, BTW. This is today's SDOTHD...$999... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid/
  19. Sennheiser Wireless Guitar System...$199 tonight only! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sennheiser+-+Evolution+G2+100+Series+UHF+Wireless+System/8794469.p?skuId=8794469&productCategoryId=pcmcat221400050016&id=1208561939634
  20. great deal with A-20....bought some Gibson pups from him, and they were amazing!
  21. You might want to consider taking your own advice, Steve. Btw, how's your hair? Still all there...no worries there...and I play plenty, thanks...
