  3. Thousand Oaks, CA-November 2019... Building on the success of its VARI 2300 multipurpose powered loudspeakers, Harbinger has introduced the VARI 4000 series two-way loudspeakers. An excellent choice for demanding DJs, musicians, and audio event hosts, the VARI 4000 series combines 2,500 watts (peak) of Class D amplification with the company's XR speaker technology to deliver high volume well beyond that of competing plastic-cabinet loudspeakers, with impressive headroom and outstanding audio clarity throughout its extended frequency range. The new VARI 4112 utilizes Harbinger's custom XR 12-inch low-frequency driver to deliver up to 129 dB SPL. The VARI 4115 employs an XR 15-inch LF driver to crank out up to 130 dB SPL. Both models feature the company's XR high-fidelity compression tweeter and offer an overall frequency response of from 35 Hz to 22 kHz. A precision DSP crossover and full-bandwidth frequency management-including a seven-band EQ, knob-controlled treble and bass EQ, and a low-cut filter-ensure extremely accurate, high fidelity sound. A built-in frequency response display on the loudspeaker's color graphic LCD shows the frequency response curves that result from the current settings, and an iOS app lets you easily tune and customize your system from anywhere in the venue, using a Bluetooth wireless connection. Harbinger V4415 Ten preset voicings, which can be edited in the iOS app, instantly configure the sound-optimizing DSP for common applications, such as Standard use, Club, Live Band, Vocal Boost, and Floor Monitor/Wall. You also can create and save five custom presets. A transparent, dynamic DSP limiter provides system protection at maximum volume. In addition to controlling these DSP features, the iOS app accesses several other parameters, including which speaker outputs left and right in a stereo pair. Harbinger VARI 4000 series loudspeakers offer a variety of inputs, so some applications don't require a mixer. Both the VARI 4112 and the VARI 4115 have three independent input channels and five simultaneous audio inputs. Channels 1 and 2 have two mic/guitar/line combo inputs, while Channel 3 features left and right ¼-inch line inputs, a stereo 1/8-inch Aux input, and wireless Bluetooth audio input. Harbinger V4415 back Of course you can use one or more pairs of VARI 4112s or VARI 4115s as your main stereo sound system but you also can use VARI 4000-series loudspeakers as a wide stereo amplification system for keyboards and more by taking advantage of Harbinger's Smart Stereo™ routing. Smart Stereo allows easy volume and tone control for two or more loudspeakers from the master unit or from the iOS app. It also lets you integrate Harbinger VARI 2318S 18-inch subwoofers with unified tuning and volume control from the master VARI 4000-series loudspeaker. VARI 4000 series loudspeakers can be used in a free-standing system, as floor monitors, pole mounted, or flown using threaded fly points. Whether you choose the VARI 4112 or the VARI 4115, you get Harbinger's outstanding value, technology, and sound quality, along with the highest volume output of any plastic-cabinet powered speaker in its class. 5. Watch Jack White’s demo of the PLASMA Coil by Gamechanger Audio - now available in Europe and worldwide. Audio electronics inventors Gamechanger Audio bring their latest release PLASMA Coil which is now finally available worldwide. The PLASMA Coil is the newest addition to the Third Man Hardware guitar effects line-up, together with Mantic Flex and the Bumble Buzz by Union Tube & Transistor. Watch the new video with Jack White personally showcasing the three pedals: VIDEO: Jack White plays PLASMA Coil PLASMA Coil is a special version of the PLASMA Pedal designed in close cooperation with Jack White and Third Man Records. It takes the PLASMA Pedal’s High Voltage discharge technology to a whole new level by adding multiple Octaver-style circuits, and an additional effects footswitch that can be toggled as latching or momentary. Instead of the Blend control, the PLASMA Coil features a selector switch that lets you choose between 6 different analogue Boost and Octave Up & Down modes. The Coil’s octave modes are achieved by circuits specifically designed for driving the Plasma Tube, and they don’t sound like any other octave or fuzz effect you’ve heard before. The new PLASMA Coil has already been used by Jack White on the Raconteurs’ latest album Help Us Stranger and has become part of the rock icon’s current touring pedalboard. PLASMA Coil Product Page: www.gamechangeraudio.com/plasma-coil Raconteurs' engineer Vance Powell – six-time Grammy Award-winning record producer (The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Wolfmother, Seasick Steve) expresses his thoughts on the pedal’s unique sonic characteristics: “This is one of the coolest new pedals in years. Breath-taking fuzz and buzz and the squelchy breakup that happens at the end of a note is impossible to recreate with anything else.. just fantastic!” says Powell. Introduced at the 2019 Summer NAMM show, the PLASMA Coil was first launched as an exclusive Third Man Records hardware product, and has been re-released by Gamechanger Audio for the European and world market to a lot of positive response: “It’s a brutal, crazy and really unique sounding fuzz. I like stuff that’s different, and this is definitely different, it’s definitely cool and I had a great time playing through it. I like anybody that thinks outside of the box and comes up with new ideas for guitar sounds and pedals and Gamechanger guys definitely fit into that category. Also, I’m a big Jack White fan as well so anything he comes up with is always fun and cool.” - Pete Thorn Link - https://youtu.be/ZQA7yG1GKpY “ This is maybe the most original pedal that has ever come through the door. After hundreds of pedal videos and seeing the same old stuff, PLASMA Coil pedal breathes new air into the industry.” - In The Blues YouTube Channel Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH_xNN-EL-I “If you know me, then you know that I am not crazy about crazy pedals... too much fuzz and uncontrollable pedals are not my thing... and then the Plasma Coil shows up... complete craziness but transparent and controllable... that is just messed up!” - EytschPi42 YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYbHq3dbodg High Voltage Distortion technology At the heart of the Plasma Coil's is GCA's innovative High Voltage Distortion technology that produces distortion by expressing the audio signal as a series of electrical discharges. Even though they’ve been printing the words: "High Voltage Rock’n’Roll" on AC/DC t-shirts since 1973, Plasma Distortion is the first (and only) commercial musical device that literally amplifies the audio signal to thousands of Volts (3000-3500 V). The result is a completely new and unique type of sound that cannot be mistaken for any other distortion - an incredibly sharp and sizzling fuzz tone that almost sounds like a guitar plugged into an electrical tazer gun. Additionally, the spark tube’s characteristics act as a natural noise-gating device that creates strong contrasts between staccato notes, as well as eliminating all unwanted noise, feedback and pickup hum. The PLASMA Coil’s electric discharge tube produces beautiful visible bolts of lightning that react to the input signal, thus creating a captivating experience for all players. In essence – you are playing a bolt of electricity. About Gamechanger | Audio (www.gamechangeraudio.com) Gamechanger | Audio was founded by four friends committed to exploring uncharted music electronics territories to create devices that provide real value while stretching the imagination of both musicians and engineers. The Latvian company has been praised for innovation in creating its inaugural PLUS Pedal — the world’s first sustain and sostenuto pedal for all melodic instruments, ingeniously based around a proprietary audio algorithm that lets users capture and sample small parts of the connected instrument’s signal in real-time and loop them into a seamless, warm, and responsive sustained tone — and its PLASMA Pedal followup, forming the basis of a revolutionary approach within the realm of overdrive and distortion by transforming the connected instrument’s live signal into a series of continuous high-voltage discharges within a xenon-filled tube. The latter has since been applied to the PLASMA Rack - a 1U sized high-end audio effects unit designed for professional and studio use and PLASMA Drive module for the ever-popular Eurorack small-format modular system, created in close collaboration with fellow Latvian company Erica Synths. Saying that, there are many more game-changing (and head-scratching) ideas in the making — not least the revolutionary electro-mechanical MOTOR Synth, successfully realising a new method of analogue audio signal synthesis. www.gamechangeraudio.com www.instagram.com/gamechanger_audio www.facebook.com/GamechangerAudio www.twitter.com/GamechangerA www.youtube.com/c/GamechangerAudio

  9. SRX ELECTRIC PIANO, SRX STRINGS, and SRX BRASS Now Available in Roland Cloud Roland Cloud releases a trio of new virtual instruments based on three classic SRX titles. Seattle, WA, November 19, 2019 — Roland Cloud, an evolving cloud-based suite of software synthesizers, drum machines, and sampled instruments for modern creators, presents SRX ELECTRIC PIANO, SRX STRINGS, and SRX BRASS. Created in the spirit of Roland's seminal classics with reimagined versatility, the SRX ELECTRIC PIANO, SRX STRINGS, and SRX BRASS draw from the spirit of the original hardware boards with the meticulous attention to detail that the brand is known for around the world. Upon its initial release more than a decade ago , SRX ELECTRIC PIANO—the twelfth title in Roland’s popular SRX series of expansion boards—was described as “the finest sound library of coveted EPs and clavs to bear the Roland logo.” The sampled keyboard instruments in SRX ELECTRIC PIANO were recorded with high-end mics and converters at multiple velocities. These electric pianos are authentic, expressive, and possess stunning audio detail. Its 50 diverse sounds—in Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and clavinet styles—vary from bright and vibrant to dusky and warm. The 128 presets in SRX STRINGS cover every potential string expression including pizzicato, legato, and vibrato playing. Presets like “Trems/w fine” react differently depending on the velocity of each note played. A softer touch conjures a tense and trembling tremolo, while a more aggressive one elicits a smoothly bowed note. SRX STRINGS includes endlessly tweakable parameters as well as effects for users to create new tones. The tenth title in Roland’s SRX series provided users with what Roland originally described as “a superb collection of sounds that capture the true articulations of traditional brass instruments and ensembles.” The diverse patches in SRX BRASS are now available in Roland Cloud and are broad enough for crafting pop hits, scoring films, classical composition, and beyond. These sounds give composers freedom to arrange horn parts with dynamism that includes realistic falls and swells. SRX ELECTRIC PIANO, SRX STRINGS, and SRX BRASS join recent releases like the TB-303, JX-3P, and SRX STUDIO as well as the TR-808, TR-909, JUPITER-8, and JUNO-106 to deepen Roland Cloud’s expanding suite of instruments. SRX ELECTRIC PIANO, SRX STRINGS, and SRX BRASS can be mapped easily to the SYSTEM-8 or other hardware synthesizers. *All trademarks are property of their respective owners. --------- About ROLAND CLOUD Roland Cloud is an evolving cloud-based suite of software synthesizers, drum machines, and sampled instruments for modern creators. 13. SEVENOAKS, KENT, 18TH NOVEMBER 2019: Iconic British string manufacturer, Rotosound, is launching a new range of high-end electric bass guitar strings sets at the forthcoming NAMM 2020 show in Anaheim, California (Stand: 4802). The firm is best-known for its wide and innovative range of electric bass guitar strings, including the ground-breaking roundwound bass string in the 1960’s, Swing Bass RS66. The launch of the new Ultramag sets, made with Type 52 Alloy will see the company push into a higher price-point bracket (around £29.95 for the four-string sets and £34.95 for the five-strings sets) enabling it to offer much-improved margins to dealers. The sets will initially be available in four-string 40-100, 45-105 and five-string 45-130 gauges for electric bass guitar. Samples will be available to test at the forthcoming NAMM Show, with a retail launch scheduled for February 2020. Rotosound materials expert, John Doughty, explained the science behind the strings, saying: “With a composition of 52 per cent nickel and 48 per cent iron, this highly magnetic string will certainly accentuate those middles and lows over their steel counterparts. "Designed for use in the aerospace industry and high-end electronics, the low coefficient of expansion will help maintain tuning in wide ranging environments. With its corrosion resistant properties and its unique blend of sound it is a truly a string for the discerning player seeking that extra tonal character.” Rotosound chairman, Jason How, explained the thinking behind the move: “From our extensive research we have realised bass players are looking for something that bit special sound-wise and particularly for a softer feel. We’re very pleased with what we now have and I believe that bass players and dealers are going to love these new strings which are well worth that small extra investment that will take their tone and margins to a new level.” The strings are 100% made in the UK factory in Sevenoaks. For more information on the new Ultramag range or to try them out, visit stand 4802 at NAMM Show 2020 at the Anaheim Convention Centre. //// About Rotosound Rotosound has been creating, designing and making strings for 60 years. By helping music icons like Jimi Hendrix, John Entwistle and Geddy Lee to create their amazing sounds, Rotosound strings have become synonymous with the British Tone. Renowned throughout the world, Rotosound is the home of legendary products such as Swing Bass 66 and Roto strings and is justifiably proud to be part of rock history. Founded in 1958 by James How as a small, UK based, family-owned and operated company, Rotosound core values are little changed today. More sophisticated machines, designed and built by the late founder’s son, Jason How, still produce high quality instrument strings using only the best materials and a great team of people who really love what they do. Each string is physically and visually inspected at every stage of the manufacturing process to get maximum consistency, ensuring each one is unrivalled in tone, tuning stability and durability. James was and Jason is a musician and engineer with vision and passion whose leadership helped Rotosound becoming one of the foremost string manufacturers in the world. Rotosound products combine musical knowledge, heritage and state of the art production methods to produce strings that bring music to life. Jason, following in his father’s footsteps, works relentlessly to invent new machines, reinvent strings and rediscover products like the Vintage Fuzz Pedal. Rotosound, whilst staying faithful to the originals, improves on them by the use of contemporary up to date technology and components such as new foil packaging, which ensures strings reach customers as fresh as the day they leave the factory. Now sold in more than 80 countries across the globe, Rotosound strings are not only used by some of the greatest guitarists and bassists, but continue to attract the best of the current and up and coming musicians. Rotosound strings have played a large part in the history of rock music and the company plans to continue drawing on this rich legacy to continue being a major influence for decades to come.
  14. NATICK, MA, November 18, 2019 — Genelec – the global leader in professional audio monitoring – has announced the availability of the new 4430 two-way active installation loudspeaker, the first model to incorporate the company’s ground-breaking Smart IP technology, combining exceptional sound quality with single cable convenience. Smart IP provides scalable power, as well as audio and loudspeaker configuration, supervision and calibration features via a standard CAT cable – offering integrators unrivalled power, flexibility, cost-effectiveness and simplicity of installation. The 4430 is a compact design that accepts both Dante and AES67 IP audio streams, and derives power via both PoE and PoE+ Power-over-Ethernet formats, with the 4430’s proprietary internal power supply helping to deliver an impressive 104 dB of short-term SPL, via two integral 50 W Class D amplification stages feeding the woofer and tweeter. As well as receiving both power and audio-over-IP, the 4430’s single rear panel CAT connector also allows access to Genelec’s Smart IP Manager – a sophisticated downloadable software tool running on Windows 10 that allows installers to configure an almost unlimited number of rooms, zones, loudspeakers and audio channels, and includes device discovery, a versatile room equalization tool set, system organization and status monitoring. Additionally, APIs within the 4430 support the hooks to allow external control via third-party hardware, software or house automation. In terms of specification, the 4430 supports up to eight audio channels in a stream with sample rates of 32 – 96 kHz and 16 – 24-bit resolution. Streams can be managed by both Dante Controller and Dante Domain Manager software, as well as legacy balanced line analog audio. The 4430 delivers a frequency response of 45 Hz – 23 kHz (-6 dB) via a 5-inch woofer and 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter, and the 4430’s compact, lightweight enclosure utilizes Genelec’s trademark Minimum Diffraction Enclosure and Directivity Control Waveguide technologies to ensure neutral, uncolored sound both on- and off-axis. Manufactured using certified sustainable methods, the enclosure itself is produced from recycled aluminum, is available in black, white or 120 custom RAL colors, and is compatible with Genelec’s extensive range of mounting accessories to allow the 4430 to be floor-, ceiling-, wall- or truss-mounted. Genelec has chosen to officially launch the 4430 at the spectacular new Finnish Music Hall of Fame in Helsinki – a unique and innovative museum and dining experience that already features over 120 of the new 4430 loudspeakers installed throughout the museum. Showcasing more than 200 Finnish artists and composers via the newest AV technology combined with Virtual and Augmented Reality solutions, the Music Hall of Fame will provide an unforgettable interactive, multidimensional experience for an estimated 100,000 visitors per year. The installation at the Hall of Fame was undertaken by top integrator Bright, whose Head of Installation Santtu Sipilä commented, “When Smart IP was announced, we knew instantly that it offered the perfect solution for the Hall of Fame. We were already familiar with Genelec’s outstanding audio quality and long-term reliability, so to be able to integrate every 4430 into the system via a single CAT cable made the whole process of installation and configuration incredibly straightforward, yet provides us with amazing levels of control. We have set out to help make the Music Hall of Fame a new global benchmark for quality content and user experience, and Genelec’s Smart IP technology has played a key role in allowing us to realize that goal.” Genelec Managing Director Siamäk Naghian added, “Our research into IP loudspeaker technology dates back to 2005, and the response to the preview of Smart IP at ISE back in February was so overwhelmingly positive that we knew that this valuable work would now allow us to fulfill a very obvious gap in the installed audio market. The 4430 is just the first of a number of loudspeaker models to incorporate Smart IP technology, and we look forward to expanding the range in 2020 and beyond. For the Finnish Music Hall of Fame to become such a prestigious early adopter of Smart IP makes us very proud, and even more excited for the future of our installed audio business.” The 4430 loudspeaker is shipping now, and for more information, please visit www.genelec.com. Genelec 4430 two-way active installation loudspeaker, the first model to incorporate the company’s ground-breaking Smart IP technology Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, is celebrating over 40 years of designing and manufacturing active loudspeakers for true and accurate sound reproduction. 15. FULTON, MD -- Impact Soundworks released today SHREDDAGE 3 PRECISION, a sample library for KONTAKT PLAYER featuring the legendary sound of an American electric “p-bass” as performed by Tony Dickinson of Trans-Siberian Orchestra fame. This Kontakt-powered virtual instrument features fingered, slapped, and picked playing, as well as all other core bass techniques, recorded through an analog signal chain and performed on flatwound strings for a warm, detailed tone. Shreddage 3 Precision is fully NKS compatible for use with Maschine and Komplete Kontrol hardware, and is available now for $129 from Impact Soundworks. In contrast with previous basses released by Impact Soundworks, Shreddage 3 Precision is uniquely versatile thanks to the wealth of articulations captured, the instrument choice, and the signal chain used. It is designed for use in any genre, rather than just rock and metal, and its clean tone can be easily processed by the built-in Console modular FX rack or with external plugins. “We wanted to create a virtual bass that sounded fantastic with no tweaking, right out-of-the-box,” said lead developer Andrew Aversa. “As soon as you start playing Shreddage 3 Precision, you’ll quickly find how smooth it sounds and how easy it is to use.” The included Shreddage 3 engine, used in 7 other guitar and bass libraries to date, provides an intelligent ‘virtual bassist’ that responds to the user’s MIDI playing with realistic fret and string selection. The result is accurate performances that reproduce the nuance of a real performer. The playing style can then be easily adjusted to support different kinds of performances, and all articulations can be mapped to perfectly fit the user’s DAW and controller workflow. Other key features of Shreddage 3 Precision include multiple types of staccato and palm muted articulations, harmonics, portamento slides, hammer-on and pull-off playing (including ‘slapped’ variations), pops, special FX, and a suite of adjustable release noises. These techniques allow users to write or perform virtually any type of bass part imaginable. See Shreddage 3 Precision in action on YouTube: https://youtu.be/nWbYmbCLwRM Shreddage 3 Precision is now available as a digital download for $129. Owners of existing Shreddage 3 instruments qualify for a discounted crossgrade price. 18. Fuse Audio Labs launches free RS-W2395c plugin emulation of original W2395c hardware EQ in close collaboration with creator DUESSELDORF, GERMANY: DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) plugin and audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) developer Fuse Audio Labs is proud to announce availability of RS-W2395c — an authentic (and free) plugin emulation of German Audio Lab’s W2395c, itself a classic Baxandall EQ combined with a powerful mid-band filter, developed in close collaboration with Roger Schult, creator of the original hardware — as of November 15... Transferring the circuitry and sonic character of analog authentically into the digital world after analysing the W2395c hardware in depth, the resulting RS-W2395c plugin provides precise control of the mid range combined with broad tonal shaping of bass and treble. The HF (high frequency) control is great for carving out percussive sounds, as well as opening or darkening instruments and voices. The partnering LF (low frequency) control provides a precise and solid grip on the sub frequencies, while the MF (mid frequency) control makes managing a delicate balancing act between sounding natural and more muscular a breeze. Better still, RS-W2395c is straightforward in operation, with those minimal controls belying its full flexibility. The LF can be switched from 80Hz to 110Hz, the HF from 2K to 5K, and the semi-parametric MF offers three different Q factors to choose from. Furthermore, the DRIVE control is a plugin-exclusive extra for adding some satisfying grit to its supernaturally-natural tone character. “We are very happy that our friendship with Roger Schult has made this wonderful freebie possible,” says Fuse Audio Labs CEO Reimund Dratwa. Duly adds German Audio Lab CEO Roger Schult: “I have to say I am really amazed at the quality of the plugin version; Reimund has obviously put as much effort into his code as I did when developing the analog hardware.” RS-W2395c is available for free from Fuse Audio Labs’ website here: https://fuseaudiolabs.com (Note that there are no time or functional restrictions.) For more in-depth information, please visit the dedicated RS-W2395c webpage here: https://fuseaudiolabs.com/rsw2395c.html About Fuse Audio Labs (www.fuseaudiolabs.com) Fuse Audio Labs was founded in 2017 by Reimund Dratwa. Prior to joining Black Rooster Audio in late 2016, he worked for Brainworx for many years, during which time he was responsible for creating analog modelling titles for brands such as ACME Audio, Black Box Analog Design, elysia, Millennia,Vertigo, and several others available through Plugin Alliance and the UAD-2 platform. The company was initially intended as an engineering entity to develop DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) plugins and audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) applications for various partners, but soon served as a channel for its own exciting product ideas. About Roger Schult (www.rogerschult.com) Roger Schult has been an inventor since he was a little kid — a passion that has been driving him forward for decades. Around 1985 he developed the transmitting and receiving electronics that became the basis of modern ultrasonic parking assistants. At this time he also founded his first company, focusing on manufacturing bass guitars, guitar amplifiers, and other electronic audio tools. In 2005 he developed the MS Mastering Equalizer that became the basis for the trailblazing bx_digital plugin by Brainworx.Today he continues to release sophisticated analog audio tools under his own brand, German Audio Lab.

  21. Specially curated collection of rare and vintage drum sounds spanning the history of drum machines expands the UNO Drum sound palette November 14, 2019 - IK Multimedia announces the Drum Anthology Libraries for UNO Drum, a free collection of PCM sounds from rare and vintage drum machines designed to expand the cutting-edge sound palette of the UNO Drum with new sounds that pay homage to the past. It includes sounds created using more than 40 drum machines from different eras - from drum machine predecessors of the 1960s, to modern machines from the 1990s and beyond. The collection features 10 libraries that capture the iconic sounds of each original drum machine, organized by era and style. In addition, each library offers new enhancements derived from the sounds of a vintage 4-piece drum kit, for further tonal variety. IK carefully studied each piece of gear to capture its most recognizable sounds, and then added new elements for even more flexibility and convenience. These are not 1:1 recreations; they are IK's homage to the classics. Each library can be easily loaded into UNO Drum to deliver even more options in the studio or for live performances. They temporarily replace the factory-default sound set without overwriting stored kits and patterns, letting users experiment with different sounds for their existing grooves, or giving them fresh inspiration for new grooves. Combined with UNO Drum's true analog voices, the new Drum Anthology Libraries gives users an even more massive range of sonic options. And with UNO Drum's 100 onboard kits & patterns, plus the ability to store more on a Mac, PC and iPad with the UNO Drum Editor application, there's virtually no limit to the grooves users can create. The libraries include: Anthology Library 1: Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-2L®, Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-6®, Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-7L®, Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-8® These machines from the 1960s and 1970s were primarily used by organists to add percussion fills. Based on simple but effective circuitry, they became the start of what a drum machine would eventually be. Anthology Library 2: Hammond Auto-Vari 64®, Wurlitzer Sideman®, Univox Drum Machines®, Columbia CRB-81 Rhythm Box® These were also accompaniment machines, used around the globe primarily to give a background rhythm to organ players. They range from the massive Wurlitzer Sideman - the first commercially available drum machine - to more compact boxes, most of which began to offer ways to create evolving rhythms and creative expression when used with reverbs and delays. Anthology Library 3: Korg KPR-77®, Korg KR-55®, Keio (Korg) MiniPops®, Panasonic RD-9844® Japan had a lead role in the development of rhythm boxes and these are some of their unusual and historic game-changing drum machines. More portable than earlier drum machines, some of these boxes were also more programmable and regarded as an "instrument" rather than a simple accompaniment tool. Anthology Library 4: Roland CR-78®, Roland CR-5000®, Roland CR-8000®, Roland TR-77® This set of iconic Roland Drum machines features some early models that served as the starting point for what became the universally recognized "sound" of drum machines. The CR-78 also brought drum machines into the computer age, as the first one to include a microprocessor. Anthology Library 5: Roland TR-606®, Roland TR-808®, Roland TR-909®, Roland TR-33® The classic Roland drum machines used in this library represent a turning point in electronic music. New genres were formed around them, shaping decades of music history. Anthology Library 6: Lell Rototom®, Maxon DS200®, Star Instruments Synare 3®, Formanta UDS® These machines - the most unusual machines of the collection - were mostly drum synthesizers. This library offers a snapshot of what they were capable of doing. Anthology Library 7: Simmons SDS 8®, Simmons SDS V®, TAMA TS-204®, TAMA TS305® The '80s! During this decade, drum synths evolved to allow drummers to connect them to electronic drum kits to use them for performance, offering a "sound of the future." This library offers a sample of what it was like working with them. Anthology Library 8: Jomox XBase 09®, MFB 502®, MFB 522®, Sound Master SR-88® A combination of drum machines from the 1980s, 1990's and 2000's with a future-retro vibe. Still used in productions today, these were inspired by the past and shaped around the most famous drum machines of all time, but with additional sound capabilities and their own character. Anthology Library 9: Regal Rhythm RE 175®, Normad Rhythm Maker 16®, Unitra Eltra RYTM 16®, Multivox Rhythm Ace FR6M® This Library contains rare-yet-affordable drum machines from all around the world. These rarities offer a sound that's very different from others, and offer hidden delights for sound experimentation when used with effects and filters. Anthology Library 10: BOSS DR-110®, Realistic Concertmate Electronic Accompanist/Metronome®, Delptronics LDB-1®, ELI CR-7030® This library features a group of portable drum machines in demand from musicians on the go during the 1980s and 1990s. They're ideal for adding unique, retro or lo-fi sounds to any groove. About UNO Drum UNO Drum offers a wide sonic palette combining fat, punchy analog sounds with digital flexibility and convenience. A robust selection of programming and live performance features and controls makes it easy for musicians, producers and DJs to add massive drum grooves to their music. 22. Spitfire swarms into strike action with one-of-a-kind, encyclopaedic collection created from tuned and untuned percussion LONDON, UK: Spitfire Audio is proud to announce availability of PERCUSSION SWARM — a one-of-a-kind, encyclopaedic collection of beautiful cloud-like evolutions, pointillistic textures and single hits created from rare and extensive tuned and untuned instruments, representing the sound-specialising British music technology company’s first percussion library in three years as a new world of dynamic sounds created in close collaboration with three of the world’s most renowned percussionists performing in the hallowed (Lyndhurst) Hall at London’s legendary AIR Studios, resulting in undulating textures and swarm-like swells, ranging in sparsity and density with a creative choice of 16 signals plus 30 warped sounds and 235 snapshots served up in Spitfire Audio’s proprietary Mercury Synth engine — as of November 14... As a distillation of musical experimentation and innovation, the epic and versatile set of tools that collectively constitute PERCUSSION SWARM follows the blueprint of Spitfire Audio’s acclaimed ...SWARM series of sample-based virtual instrument libraries, designed to add movement, depth, and a modern edge to TV, film, or game scores. Spitfire Audio has brought all of its hard-won sampling techniques to bear on percussion, pushing its collective creativity to the limit by posing itself a complex question: ‘What if you take percussion instruments and play them as if they are strings?’ Significantly, PERCUSSION SWARM features truly stunning performances from some of the world’s finest percussion players, equipped with their enviably rare instrument collections. Cue Paul Clarvis, Gary Patel, and Frank Ricotti, all of whom have performed on existing Spitfire Audio percussion libraries and are renowned for their prolific film work. With PERCUSSION SWARM, Spitfire Audio selected a huge range of well-known and lesser-heard tuned and untuned percussion instruments, from Glockenspiels to Tubular Bells and Angklungs to Udus, most of which do not naturally sustain. So — using performances and the resonance of the hallowed (Lyndhurst) Hall at London’s legendary AIR Studios, combined with unconventional playing techniques, including using bows and rubber balls to lengthen each sound — Spitfire Audio added breadth, depth, and harmonic range to each instrument, transforming them into a liquid-like form that dances along to the picture. Professionally recorded by engineer Jake Jackson — one of the most exciting talents to emerge in recent years within the TV and film scoring genre, with many of the projects he has worked on being awarded BRITS, Golden Globes, Grammys, and Oscars, PERCUSSION SWARM’s sounds blend seamlessly with the sound-specialising British music technology company’s other orchestral and percussion libraries, perfectly providing textural additions to any orchestral composition. Composer — and Spitfire Audio co-founder — Paul Thomson is certainly qualified to comment on the musical malleability of those PERCUSSION SWARM sounds, stating that the library itself is “...a fantastic, really deep palette of creativity for you to use in your productions — everything from the beautifully-recorded, multi- percussionists sounds in the Hall, all the way through to these fantastic warped sounds; there are lots of short sounds for you to use in there, percussively, and there are lots of long sounds to use as these kind of evolving beds — alternatives to standard stuff, such as long string notes and things like that.” That (truthfully) said, PERCUSSION SWARM offers much manoeuvrability when it comes to encouraging experimentation and fine-tuning with 16 signals — six standard microphone positions from Close to Ambient, plus the Close Pans section, allowing anyone to hone in on any of the equally-spaced three players or mix and match for much more immediacy and detail. PERCUSSION SWARM also features four distinct mixes curated by Jake Jackson for instant playability. The ‘Clouds’ are long, looped notes made up of a glorious patina of uneven repeated hits, with a slider to control Density, while the ‘Swarms’ range from thunderous rolls to swells and through to bowed metallic sheens, where each individual hit is imperceptible with a slider to control Swarm speed and note length. Spitfire Audio also recorded short, single hits for each instrument, useful for custom creation of rhythm tracks. Therefore, PERCUSSION SWARM offers a unique experience impossible to replicate live, letting users bring something truly unexpected to their scores. Standard stuff alternatives, indeed! Taking those organic sounds to a completely new place, PERCUSSION SWARM’s warped section provides 40 warped sounds and 235 snapshots created by Spitfire Audio’s accomplished development team. These were made using granular synthesis, guitar pedals, and other outboard gear. Go discover a radical range of otherworldly pads, evolving swells, and atonal rhythmic textures — all presented in Spitfire Audio’s proprietary Mercury Synth engine. Ending on a high note, Paul Thomson ties things up technically: “The library is 64 GB in compressed format, down from 145 GB of .WAV files. There are 21 instrument groups in the library, 76 articulations, 30 warped sounds, and then, using those warped sounds, we’ve created 235 snapshot presets.” Playing percussion instruments as if they are strings — “...so various long notes, swells, and all kinds of interesting stuff like that,” to quote Paul Thomson one final time — has been duly delivered with PERCUSSION SWARM. Spitfire Audio has once again lived up to its ethos of collaborating with the best composers, artists, and engineers in the world to build musical tools that sound great and are exciting to use.
