Members Ancient Mariner
Godin SD22? I have a Godin SD where I changed out the neck and middle PUs for some JV Squire strat PUs. Before the change TBH the tone was not great. But afterward, suddenly I have a guitar with a 24.75" scale that will get strat tones in pos 1,2,3 and 4, thanks to the switch which splits the bucker in combination with the middle PU. It still has the 'bucker raunch in pos 5. I'd thoroughly recommend this route if you like the shorter scale and skinny neck. Just be ready for a PU swap (Some of the GFS premium Alnicos would be great in there too).
Members tom_s252
Thanks, Ancient Mariner. If yours wasn't jade green I'd take it off your hands right now, but it's a bit dazzling for my liking. Still, if they can be had on eBay I'll keep my eyes open. Members Willyguitar
Get yourself a Baja telecaster. It can approximate an out of phase in between sound, with the S-1 down when the two pickups are in parrallel. To my ear it is quite close to a strat sound, but with a modicum of tele twang in there too.
Members HanSolo
If I was looking specifically for 2 and 4, I would really only go for something with three singles, but that's just me. I had that SG3. It was horrible. I tried to like it but couldn't. It just sounded crappy I'll take a MIM Strat any day of the week. G&L Legacy Tribute is nice too. Nothing else nails the Strat sound but a Strat. I have Nashville Tele. Sounds Stratty but not like the real thing.
