Members uberthrall
Just got this one yesterday. Majorly underrated guitars, these highend 80's/90's Pacificas. I had a 1221MS that was chromed a couple years ago, and always regretted selling it. This one here is ridiclously clean. The owner bought a replacement whammy bar, but unfortunately not the right one. It's gonna be quite the snipe hunt trying to find on too. These RMII trems are great, but the bars are really proprietary....nothing else will work. Gonna throw in a set of Zebra EVOs and maybe get a chrome pickguard for her........getting a black switch tip for it too. I'm a pretty big fan of the whole Ibanez thing, and I gotta say these really nail that vibe to the bone. I'd actually go as far as to say that they have a bit more of a wide/thin profile than the Wizard necks......with better overall build quality too. Members newbuilder
I really like that! Nice neck...can't go wrong with black...what'd you pay?
Members lowbrow
Killer guitars. Congrats! Good luck finding the trem arm. That trem can be modified to take a Floyd arm, but it takes some surgery. Ever seen a 90's 1221? The neck through model? Yowza.
Frets99
Beautiful guitar. As nice as any guitar made out there. And I love rainbows..... Congrats!
Members uberthrall
I really like that! Nice neck...can't go wrong with black...what'd you pay? Well I paid more than I thought I would. It was on Ebay at $395 with a few minutes to go. There were a couple guys laying in the weeds for it. I won it it literally at the last second for $629.99. A bit more than I was expecting to pay, but considering the overall quality,if it said Jackson or Charvel or a few other names I can think of on the headstock,it coulda been double that. Lowbrow, how intensive would the surgery be to retrofit a Floyd bar on it? Don't know if I wanna go there, but I'm kinda curious.
Members d_dave_c
Congrats on the score! Those are super nice. I saw a 921 the other day that was missing the trem arm. I thought about it, but decided it would be too hard to find the trem. Let me know if you find a place that has those trems (if they have 2). I can probably still get that 921. Members lowbrow
I did an earlier version of it...and the fixture for attaching the arm was molded with the sustain block...I cut that off and fitted the trem baseplate with the fixture for a Floyd...it was pretty easy to do actually and worked fine. Members d_dave_c
Isn't the string through via the baseplate? Maybe I'm thinking of a different Yamaha trem.

Members cBc
You are officially a Yamaholic now! HNGD! CALL Yamaha Customer Support & have them check stock in Japan for you re: the whammy bar. They found one for my & my PAC 921 . Was about $50, but definitely completed the guitar. It KILLs me that so many people seem to lose the whammies for high end guitars & then sell them...stick it in the fucking case if yo aren't gonna use it. On and.. Members cratz2
VERY nice. I haven't played any of the higher end Yamahas recently but when they were new, I thought they were unbelievably nice guitars. As you said, equal to a Jackson twice the price. They literally reek of quality, but I'd gladly put a clothespin on my nose and rock the hell out with one. Congrats.

Members Jkater
Those are serious guitars. The neck looks so smooth! . It begs to be played. Does "M" stand for maple (neck) ? Regarding the trem arm. I asked the store where I bought my PAC904 (it has a very high quality custom Yamaha trem) if I could buy a spare just in case I lose it down the road because the PAC904 is discontinued as of this year. The price?
Members uberthrall
Glad to see you guys like this one. It's without a doubt gonna be a keeper...that's saying something, considering the rate I tend to flip stuff!! To answer your question about the trem Dave, yeah you can feed the strings through from underneath without having to cut off the ballends, or you can go the other route too......don't know why anyone would choose that option though. Jkater, yeah the M designates maple. My other one was an MS....the Mike Stern model basically a heavy metal Tele. cBc I agree with you man, I don't know how the lost whammy bar thing could happen with the frequency it does....definitely aggravating though. What the hell, while I'm posting Yami porn, I may as well show the one that got me into these. I SO wish I didn't send her off to Spain!!
Members cratz2
That's crazy hot. It's like a Jem but so much less Vai-esque.

That's the 1412 and 1421 you're thinking of, and yes, they are gorgeous. I have a 1212 and a 912 and like everyone's said, they're very high quality. For anyone that doesn't know Rich Lasner was the designer of the Pacificas and Weddingtons. You might know him from Ibanez fame, he designed the Saber, Radius, ect... back in the late 80's before heading to Yamaha. Members uberthrall
Not too stoked on the Samurai, but the Weddington and 1421 are on my gotta have list. In fact the reason I moved the chrome 1221 was because a guy from a couple towns over was moving a mint 1421 on Ebay. Mine already sold when I found out the dude was holding out for 2 grand.....DOH!! Like I said, I really regret ever selling that one.
Members Verne Andru
And while on the subject of fancy Yammies, here is a $9,000 Samourai: I really dig the samourai. They've done a lower-end reisssue this year but seems to only be available in Japan. I got Yamaha's product catalog at NAMM and it wasn't included, but is on the Japanese website last time I looked. Members lowbrow
Thanks for the correction. There was a lavender 1212 at our Guitar Center for a while....I think they were asking around $300 for it....I kinda wish I'd bought it, but I'm no shredder and...well, it woulda been wasted on me.
