Members Beckman
I have been using 10-46 Boomers for a long time. I just bought a pack of D'addario 10-46 to check them out. I used to use Ernie Ball 9's for a long time, but them switched to 10's.

Members scolfax
It'd be nice if you could have thick strings for your picking hand and thin strings for your fretting hand. That's a million-dollar idea!
Members Bumhucker
Strat that's tuned to D Standard = EB 11-48s Strat tuned to Eb = EB 10-46s Wal-Mart strings, lol.... I tried those once when the music store was closed... Never again, they broke after an hour of playing, and I never break strings.

Members matt_v
D'addario 10-46 with wound G (.18). 9s on a strat (ash body, single coils, cutaways) just sounds too harsh and thin. Beef it up with 10s.

Members BeanoBoy
I use Ernie Ball 10's on my Strat. Like you, I'm thinking of going back to 9's. A lot of my heroes from the late 60's and 70's used 9's. I'm getting older and I think my vibrato and bending might be a bit more expressive with 9's. I think Robin Trower uses 9's AND tunes down a half step. Hats off to SRV and those thick strings he used. Seriously big, strong hands!
