Members golias
The only reason English words aren't said how they're spelt is because people begin mispronouncing them over time. That's not even a little bit true. There are a lot of reasons for spelling/pronunciation variations in English, the most common being which language the word originally came from. Your education may begin here.
Members Kid Klash
Since it is named after a tape trick and a tape machine part called a flange, it's flan-jer. Yeah. Specifically, running two analog tape decks at the same time, with the same signal coming in, onto tape, then out of them, and putting your fingers on the flange of one of the tape reels on one of the tape decks, causing a slight delay of the signal coming out of that deck, which creates the comb filter effect known as "flanging" when the two signals are combined. Members roygbiv
OK, so we've determined how to pronounce flanger. Let's move on to another "fun to play with, miserable to listen to" effect. How do you pronounce "phaser"? Is it "fazer"? Or is it "pee-hazer"?
