Sorry, I didn't know. I wouldn't have posted it had I known. :D

Anyway, good luck should you still want it :thu:

It's a TC 620, not 650 (typo).

I've been watching the blue sparkly one with the bigsby on ebay. The only thing that bothers me is that a couple of the saddles have been filed down. Anyone know if finding a replacement bridge or saddles would be a problem?

k

Yeah, that looks a bit freaky, hmmm... Would be nice if one could drop in a roller bridge replacement, but I have no idea if it would fit.

You're reading my mind, my man. I sat and looked at that picture for a while last night trying to figure out if a roller bridge would work there.

I can imagine :D

You could try asking in the Ibanez forum:

http://www.ibanez.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=9

Or at jemsite:

http://www.jemsite.com/

There's still time. It's supposed to be a Gibraltor bridge (no idea!) according to this site:

http://www.angelfire.com/md2/wrgaphardt/Talmans.html

Should be a TC 825 from 1997 (the 98 model doesn't seem to have a bigsby).

This one isn't neck heavy at all. I don't have a good scale, the guitar is not that light but definitely lighter than most of my others. Could be the smaller body, too. The later models (MIK) also use different woods so those could be heavier.

So I assume those lipsticks have a unique sound (never played a guitar with one), but the early Danos are legendary. So how would you describe their sound? Is it similar to a P-90 or something else?

I only have one p90 guitar (the SJM). The lipsticks seem to have lower output and I think they sound cleaner, there's not as much bass in the neck position.

Maybe Frets99 Banshee neck clips can help demo the sound:

I'm not a good enough player yet for posting anything worth listening to (started learning a couple of months ago with slow progress), just some chords and single notes:

Well, judging from those on my (new) Danelectro 56 Pro, lipsticks don't sound like P90s at all - they are bright, shimmery, clear, clean, transparent - but indeed a bit thin if used by themselves, that's why on the Dano they are wired in series for the middle position, giving a twangy sound (but a cleaner kind of twang than, say, a Tele).

I find them perfect for clean rhythm playing (not that different from a Rickenbacker), and for surf/Spaghetti Western-style single note runs on the low strings.

With a bit of overdrive you can get nice 1960s-ish crunchy rhythm songs (think early Rolling Stones), but for higher gain soloing I find them to thin and fizzy.

noo, there are 6 holes in each pickup on a strat - one for each of the words, and the other one is the one that actually does the picking up. it's like built in effects. and each pickup has different effects, the neck is velvety smooth airy soft round and the bridge is raspy sharp bright cranky brittle.

the middle you already know :)

 Thanks for clearing that up

I should get one then, or a cheap clone. Sounds interesting, that strat.

Yup, yup. That's the audience they were targetting with that guitar anyway :)

But since I'm all for diversity I had to have an all-lipstick one, not just the Banshee :D

Thanks Arkay, I don't seem to be Putfile compatible over here but from the comments I think I get the picture. I think Fretts is pretty fond of that Banshee.
