Members awd83
I am wanting to enhance the looks of my Jay Turser gold top LP. I'm thinking of changing the pups in it to zebra or all black or maybe chrome covered, what do you guys think? I thought about taking off the pickguard, but I don't like the holes showing. I typically don't like guards, but I don't think they're too bad on a gold top

Members danswon
keep the pickups that colour but ditch the pickguard
Members awd83
can you just put chrome covers over open coils like these? I know on some of my chrome covers, they are soldered on, I'm afraid if I tried to do that, it would discolor the cover

Members vintage clubber
how do the stock pickups sound?
Members awd83
how do the stock pickups sound? they're ok, typical cheaper chinese ceramics. I don't plan on putting a lot of money in it, just something to dress it up a little, like a set of dragonfires ( This really is a nice guitar, I would highly recommend one to anyone, the frets are very well done, no buzzing or sharp ends, much better quality than my Agile, and this one was about $75 cheaper than my AL-2000. The only thing wrong with it is a couple of spots around the binding where the gold didn't completely cover the top of the binding, but you have to be looking for it to see them

Members GAS Man
Maybe the picture is off a bit, but the plastic bits seem like they are a bit too white and not creme enough. If that's correct and Gibson creme is darker, I'd change out all the plastic bits and as far as pickups go, either all black or all chrome covered. Or of course "paint it black, paint it black, paint it black, you devil". 00:00 - 00:08[video=youtube;XSjT1JBLnN4]

Members cratz2
If I replaced the pickups, I'd go for black/cream zebras. I think I'd either replace the knobs or the switch tip, but probably not both.
