How to Tint a SatinPoly Finish Fender neck?

These fender necks, some of them, especially some of the licensed ones are very light wood colored, with a thin Satin Poly finish.

Is it possible to tint a neck, make it a little darker..more aged looking?

What can I use,and how do I do it?

Also, might like to add a littel gloss, but not buff it out- a thicker gloss.

Now Ive heard you can put true oil over cured satin Poly to gloss it up.

Also, Ive heard that they make a tinted Poly spray?...Some kind of varnish or something?

They seem to darken with age especially if the sun shines on them. I don't recommend exposing it to the hot sun but a little bit of sunlight through a window will, over time, give it a "tan".

I bought a telecaster neck that sat in a showroom window at a music store with a tag covering part of the fingerboard. It looked like a bikini line.

There is no hurry - your neck won't stay pale for very long.

Poly doesnt age like lacquer. Thats one of the reasons its used.

Just about anything you put on poly will come off.

Unless the neck has its poly removed and a darker finish applied

nothings going to be truely effective, Shoe polish is just colored wax

and is like a fake tatoo that can be removed. I'd stick with that unless

you plan on going all the way and plan to refinish it. I advise against that

because of how much experience it requires and how suckey the job is.

If the shoe polish doesnt work, wear sunglasses.
