Members AndrewGG
If "Premium" means made in Indonesia I shudder to think what the budget models are like.On the other hand, if Ibanez made the old 540S in Japan or USA with a big Gibson or Fender style neck I would buy one. Always liked the looks, never cared for the neck. A CNC machine doesn't know if it's in Japan or Indonesia. Just saying...
Members AndrewGG
Sorry, I don't think of Korea and China as 'Premium Quality'. Moving a few employees there won't help much either unless they move everyone.Bottom Line - I was looking at an older 80s or 90s 540 with the Custom Made inlay (this should pin down the year) yesterday and it had a BIN of like 600.I'll bet that guitar is light years better then Ibanez' 'premium' offerings.Sad they killed the brand. Maybe you should play a few before making value judgements based on-what, exactly? Like I said, the amount of craftsmanship involved in bolting a solid-body together is pretty minimal. We're not talking hands-on, complex luthiery here. Tell me why you think a Telecaster made in Ensenada is any less a capable, professional-quality instrument than one made just across the border in Corona which costs three times as much...
