Members jackcheez
Does anybody else notice that the market is swamped with vintage/retro looking stuff for guitar players but there is NOTHING out there for bass players.

Why do you need a 60's look? Are you in a Beatles cover band or something? For the record, I imagine most bassists in the 60's were using pretty crappy amplification...like small guitar combos. Here's an idea: get a theatrical set designer to make you a vintage 60's looking backline out of old refrigerator boxes and stuff. Then use a DI to the board Emre
Members Tim in WV
how much money you wanna spend? 1600 bucks? This is as 60's as it gets, baby. here's da link to get one

Members jackcheez
That Vox looks bitchen. If it could put out 300 watts to 2 15s I would pay 1600. That DI to the board {censored} was a wast of space. This is for a 60s soul & Motown type band. Just trying to look the part.
Members The Insomniac
Maybe look for some old Fender Bassman stuff.

Then you better use a Bassman and play with only your first finger.
Members jackcheez
Sweet. Just gotta sneak some power into that thing. Maybe hide a few hundred watts of something behind it !

Members Tim in WV
I dunno what the Vox I posted sounds like, but it's teh cool amp +cab. The other choice would be a blue tuck and roll Kustom with matching cab. Nothing would beat that for 60's look.

Members nosamiam
Italia makes some new retro-look basses. I really like the look. www.italiaguitars.com My Reverend bass is also sort of retro-nouveau, if you ask me. As far as amplification, the 60's pretty much sucked, IMHO. Tone to die for, but no volume to speak of. I don't know how to successfully pull off authentic 60's tone at decent stage volumes, except to use period equipment, mic the cab, and use good PA support. That's the way they did it then, I'm sure. Members narcolepticbass
I didn't think they had good enough PA support back in the 60s for bass.
