Members dakhwon
So! The wife's given me the green light to buy a new bass! I know I want a Pbass, but I'm not sure which kind, because I thought for a long time I was going to be financially forced into Essex land, but it looks like I can get anything I feel comfortable shelling out for. SO! What are my options? I don't want to spend a ton... What's the P Bass equivalent of the Geddy Lee? I wish they still made the Steve Harris sig... Anyway... what's a good hot new Pbass for me to look for?

Members Texas Noise Factory
You could always look for a used G&L LB-100 if you want the classic P tone with upgrades for not alot of coin. Then there's the G&L SB-1 for a nice modern P sound. Fender makes alot of nice P basses. And if you want to spend the money, Lakland makes a damn nice P as seen above. Members s4001
MIJ 57 reissues are top notch P basses. The American ones aren't too shabby either...

Members hawkhuff
I have a question. It used to be that the stock numbers indicated where the P Basses were made. For instance, if the first 3 numbers were 013 it was MIM. If it is 025 it was MIJ. If it is 019 it was MIA. Now there is 015, 014, 011. I didn't see anything in the specs. What do they mean?? Members mrcrow
its hard..because imho the first thing you will want to do is mess with the bridge and pups...unless fender do a really good 'un-fiddled' model..not really up to date therei would guess an mia to startwhere you go from there is anyones guess...for what its worth i have noticed a world of difference between fender and ernie ball stingray...probably should do but i dont 'hear' my P bass so much now in a mixed situation...the 'ray just keeps poking through...at all frequencies..and thats where i want to be..up front licking out the melody line..just a thought:)
