Members randy rhoads jr
Haha i think the look is awesome! But ya the sound is my favorite part, its so punchy. Has anyone tried or own the 5 string model?
Members mike fitzwell
The 5er is on the top of my list, but hot damn they're hard to find used. Playability and tone is awesome in my book.
Moderators ThudMaker Posted July 23, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 23, 2007 It's a unique looking hot rod bass, that reminds many people of a toilet seat. I personally like them and will own one before I return to dust. Not much of a review, but they sound huge and have a great variety of tones available. Members T. Alan Smith
Personally, I find 'em quite chic. They feel great & sound great. Get one in your hands and see if it fits you.
Members guitargod0dmw
I'm going to get a 6er HH when they come out! I love them, they sound great, they play awesome, and I really like the look...very unique. It's an acquired taste though...
Members mike fitzwell
that reminds many people of a toilet seat. Wow, can't believe it took 6 posts before someone threw in the toilet seat comparison!
Moderators ThudMaker Posted July 23, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 23, 2007 Wow, can't believe it took 6 posts before someone threw in the toilet seat comparison! I didn't compare it. I said many people do. I personally love the looks.
Members bpocall
Hey Mike, how much are you looking to spend? There's a sweet looking HS 5er on the MM forums going for $1,000 shipped. The back of the neck has been stripped and refinished in oil and wax, but it looks like a pro job. Worth checking out if you're interested. http://www.ernieball.com/forums/388771-post574.html

I'm probably the only person in the world that thinks the value of it dropped when he had that neck stripped. He's asking a decent price but I'd rather have the HH config. Members guitargod0dmw
Personally i love having the finish on the back of the neck. I really wish they made that an option, because I hate it! It makes it slow...and it's a pretty fast neck anyways. Just imagine what it would be like if it was nice smooth wood (birds eye maple while I'm fantasizing) w/ a satin finish! Once it isn't stock anymore, it isn't worth stock anymore.
Members RobRoy
yup. pretty much. First thing that attracted me to them was the styling. The one I saw was metallic orange. It was gorgeous. It was $899 and I had no idea how much of a price reduction that was, or I would have bought it on the spot.

That's why I love my new Yamaha RBX 3470, it has two massive, exposed-pole humbuckers and a nice satin finish on the back of the neck!! Powerful tone... I like the looks of the Bongo and some of the colors are cool.

A Yammy with two exposed pole buckers sounds intriguing.
Members dragon9666
I love the all flat black bongo and those sparkly ones! Damn there nice. The Bongo when up against my Spector Euro5LX, but lost. The one I was eyeing had to many knobs for me. 4EQ plus volume and blend. Def. a badass bass for sure! Members Mytola
Ishibashi has a used one that goes for around $850 shipped, it seems. Looks like this:
Members Death Hands
I want to try a Bongo so badly, but I can't find one locally...
Members 82Daion
I loved the looks and playability on mine (had it for over a year), but ultimately, the tone was not to my liking-it just lacked a certain woodiness that I like in my tone. YMMV, and if I needed a really aggressive bass, I would go for one again in a second.
