Members REMUS Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 So in your opinion, which would you go for? They are all about the same price except for the the 62 re-issue, which is a fair bit cheaper. Sorry no BOALG option because this is important... I am personally leaning heavily toward the Bacchus 5, and even more so to the DJ4. Bacchus Japan 02 WOODLINE 5 (New) Lakland Darryl Jones 4 (New) Modulus VJ4 (Used) Fender Japan 62RI Jazz (Used)
Members t3ch Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Bacchus Japan 02 WOODLINE 5 (New) I was so excited to think about owning that absolutely gorgeous piece of instrument sexiness, but then I looked up the price and remembered what a broke ass I am. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY.
Moderators Kindness Posted October 29, 2007 Moderators Posted October 29, 2007 I think the Bacchus is by far the sharpest looking. I've never played one though. Nor have I played a DJ with the new Lakland pickups. I thought that bass killed with the Aeros. So much so that I got a custom set of Aeros for one of my Hamers. I don't like the Modulus. I'd get the Fender if you were concerned about cost. I'm going to vote Bacchus so you can review it for the rest of us.

Moderators Kindness Posted October 29, 2007 Moderators Posted October 29, 2007 do you know when the aeros were phased out? I don't. I wasn't paying enough attention to know. If you get the serial number you could e-mail Lakland and I'm sure they will tell you. I also have nothing bad to say about the new pickups, I just haven't heard them.
Members REMUS Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 Good suggestion, i've just messaged the guy now.
Members 82Daion Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 More people over at TalkBass have experience with the Bacchus stuff, in my experience-if you want to get more info, that might be a better place to ask. Did I just say that? That said, I'd go for the Bacchus first, Lakland second.

Members REMUS Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 Talkbass has a boalg option in their polls? they most certainly do not! oh.. err.. wait one cotton pickin minute!
Members baja85 Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Get the {censored}ing Bacchus before I sell everything I own and get it myself.
Members 82Daion Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4845497#post4845497Have you ever played a Bacchus, doesn't matter if it's not the same model? I have not played one, but they appeal to me a lot. I generally trust Japanese instruments to be high-quality, and from what I've read, the high-end Bacchus stuff is no different. And the BOALG option at Talkbass is "carrots."
Members NeonVomit Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Ok the first one is just sex on strings. Awsome.
Members REMUS Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 I'm having real trouble finding out how they sound, but i've just sent a pm to a dude that owns a handmade bacchus on TB... hope he can help me out with a sound clip.
Members Poltergeist Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 of those, i'd say the fender jazz for sure...... ..... but how come no sadowsky??? p.s. - that bach is amazingly sexy....how much for one?
Members REMUS Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 Because I don't like Sadowsky That one i've found pictured is circa $1200 shipped
Members Fiery Furnace Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 The Modulus is definitely the prettiest!
Members Poltergeist Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 bacchus is definitly the prettiest... i never heard one, though... it would only take it to have 24 frets for me to be drooling all over it...
Members T. Alan Smith Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 I'd pick the Lakland. The Fender is okay, but just okay. I haven't played the other 2. I've yet to play a Modulus that I adored tho. The DJ Lakland is my favorite Lakland. I dig Lakland basses in general and, hell, they're practically local to me.
Members NeonVomit Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Because I don't like Sadowsky That one i've found pictured is circa $1200 shipped Sounds like a good deal. I particularly like the 2-part bridge... nice touch.
