Members jrkman
I just went to Guitar Center to try out a Fender Jazz bass. I picked up a brand new American Jazz bass and as I was playing I noticed more buzz than there should be. I looked down the neck and the thing was bowed something fierce. It looked like a big u. I did a double take on it thinking my eyes may have been tricking me. But they weren't. I have never seen a guitar neck bent that much. I don't know if someone at the store would mess with it. I hate to think they would let it out of the factory like that. Also played a Geddy Lee. Not a bad bass but that necks a little too thin. That's all I've got. Have a nice day. Members collinwho
Its probably due to a combination of shipping, varying climates, and that fact that you were in Guitar Center.

Music stores should care about the stuff they sell.
Members jrkman
Yea, I know GC sucks. I've had issues with them before but that's a different post. I'm never buying stuff from there. They're just the only place around here that had any so I figured I'd go try one. It was bad that they actually had that out on the floor. Members jackcheez
G C does absolutely nothing for the setup of the guitars they sell. I've picked up guitars there and the string is completely fretted out.

Members marxalot
Guitar Center is a great place to test instruments as they have almost everything under one roof. I usually purchase what I like from somewhere else.
Members justinbass
I feel bad for you guys. My local GC is great. All of their basses are set-up (decently) and their guitar/bass staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Members Super Bass
I don't have GC here. Most guitar stores (except one) setup their instruments properly. That's their selling point really, rather than buying online.
Members Kakona
Last week at the local GC I test drove a MM Stingray and a Gibson SG bass, both of which were badly bowed and poorly set up. So I feel your pain.
Members Pyralus
I played a brand new American P-Bass at my local music shop (well, not exactly local, 20 minute drive) and it was beautiful, and well set-up. Then again, it's a local store not a superultramega chain.
Members Goofball Jones
Yes, the thing you have to remember is not to let a bad set-up dissuade you from an instrument. Once Kindness posts his set-up guide again (which we're all still waiting on ), you'll see how to take something that looks like a disaster set-up wise and turn it into something great! Members sunburstbasser
I remember my one trip to GC so far. One of the basses was a USA Peavey Millenium. I really wanted to try it, but there was no output jack! It was completely gone!
Members jrkman
I only go to GC to try stuff out. I'm only an hour and a half from the House of Guitars in Rochester NY. I love that store.
