Members mlwarriner
What about this? i have heard/read (not from personal experience) that some of those have been known to have truss rod issues. YMMV.

Members burdizzos
The Cirrus BXP neck is slightly meatier than the USA Cirrus neck. The MTD neck feels like a baseball bat compared to the USA Cirrus, but the BXP is somewhere in between.

Members Jugghaid
What about this? I owned one. I really liked it. Nice bass. I would PROBABLY upgrade the electronics a little bit. Mostly a better preamp. It was kinda trebly. However, it was a well built bass. I hadn't heard they had truss rod issues, but I didn't keep mine long enough to experience any of that. Members Poltergeist
i'd say Schecter Stilettos and G&L Tributes... ... as 5 stringers i wouldnt recommend those BXP Peaveys. the B string is floppy and sounds weak... ... i'm used to very tight B strings, though... .... they're very good basses, but the 5th string sucks, imo. try them out before you buy them at least, for sure. Members zachoff
Ibanez BTB would get my vote.http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-BTB305FM-5String-Bass-Guitar?sku=517309 You might be able to find a used one with the Barts for your budget. Members Cliff Fiscal
I'm starting to look at the expensive basses. A musicman or a Spector Euro.

How you define "expensive"... you tell me.Those are some of the best bang for buck basses around and easily worth the price.
Members Bryan316
My Tobias was $1100. My Ibanez Prestige was $850. Two fine, fine instruments, with deep rumbling sustaining low B's that don't sound like they were just added on and praying they sound allright. Members Cliff Fiscal
$1k is expensive to me...... Like I said, I was hoping to find a nice 35" scale 5 string for $500 or so........so far that isn't happening. I don't want an ibanez or schecter either. You can't fake a good B string/5'er as well you can a 4, which is why there's so many "meh" ones.If you want to go Spector but not up to the Euro, get a ReBop or the Professional (Korean) series. You can even get the Prof's in neck-through while staying way under your limit.

That's not a bad deal on the ReBop at all.Same exact one my original act singer has. I use it from time to time. Check with Mark but ya, I think my guy paid around $800 for his? Members Cliff Fiscal
My local shop has a Spector Legend 5.....which I like, but they have it marked at $450......willing to go down to $380. Which seems a bit steep. Bought that Spector for Grankor for $250 shipped.
