Members georgestrings
Sorry to hear of the break-in, but glad to hear how minor the losses were... This sorta thing makes me glad I've got a dog - he'd tear the crap outta anyone trying to break into my place... - georgestrings
Members jasper383
Very sorry to hear this. Being robbed is one of the worst things to experience; it impacts how one feels about others for a long time. The thief was ignorant of the goldmine you have, and grabbed the one thing he knew he could quickly sell.
Members Poltergeist
had i caught someone breaking into my cave where i keep my gear, i would make them eat their own intestins, still attached to their body. literally. really get a shotgun and an alarm system. good luck this time, but you might not be so next time, if, lets hope not, there is a next time. Members Marko
So they have something else to steal? Yeah, I live alone now, so when I go to work, not even a car in the driveway. Alarm time, for sure.
Members bassred
Sounds like the three times we were broken into when we lived in the hood. Crack heads want things they can sell/pawn with very few questions and no tracability. They took DVD players and DVDs and some of my wifes jewlery. It seems they never even went into the spare bedroom that had 4+ basses, 2 electric and 2 acoustic guitars....

Members Hotblack
Sorry to hear that happened, but glad to hear that you got off relatively light. An alarm is nice, but only as good as the response time you get. I don't how populated your area is, but it may be worth the investment as a deterrent, if nothing else. Depending on the structure, you may want to look into getting a more secure door and some sort of protection for the windows.

Members PaulyWally
Stay on the lookout in case they decide to come back. If they're stupid enough to not grab all that gear... then they could be stupid enough to go back for seconds.

Members RIC N BACKER
A shotgun will do you no good in this situation. You werent there when they broke in. An alarm is only as good as the response from the monitoring center. You should get one and make sure you get external flashing lights and audio. Best thing for an empty house during the day is a dog with a very vicious sounding bark.Doesnt have to be a killer just sound like one. Criminals are usually simple minded fraidy cats that spook easily when discovered. when they enter a house and all is quiet then the mutt comes out to see whats up it usually makes them {censored} and run... Even just the alarm company *signs* are typically enough for most to move to the next house. Unless you are being specifically targeted (which is incredibly rare) it's simply not worth the chance of being caught by an alarm with a loud siren, etc. Central monitoring works, but it'll run about $50/mo. In many cases the alarm system is free if you contract for x-amount of monitoring time.
