I plan to be in the Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, area on Saurday and Sunday, July 16 and 17. I'll be staying in my brother's condo on Fenwick Island, just north of Ocean City, Maryland. Anybody from the forum gigging anywhere near there next weekend? I'd love to be able to stop in and say "hi" and put a face to the names I see on this forum. My 2nd band is playing saturday (the deadhead band) in Rock Hall, MD from 7-11. It's a decent ride from where you'll be, 100 miles and 2hrs +, not really any main roads to get there as it's north and west across DE into MD. We just got called to do a show on Friday at The Lagoon in Salisbury (about 40 minutes from OC), but that still doesn't fit with your schedule. You'd be better off hearing Dan's band than mine. They are quite awesome. Our music takes a back seat to us acting like idiots on stage. Charlie's will definitely have music on Wednesday. If you go then, say hi to Marla behind the bar for us. Members pickinatit Posted July 12, 2011 Members Share Posted July 12, 2011 I used to travel up (from Maryland where I'm originally from) to visit a friend in Delaware and we used to often go and hang out at a place called the "Stone Balloon" ?? But I can't remember if that was down toward the U.D. or up closer to Wilmington. I know that several times we heard a band there that absolutely crushed Led Zepplin stuff. Members dan88z Posted July 12, 2011 Members Share Posted July 12, 2011 Yeah, it closed several years ago and I think they put up condos in it's place. They left part of the original facade. It is right in Newark and was a huge UD hangout. I played there many many times over the years with various bands. One of those places where your feet stuck to the floor from all the beer, a giant dive, but it was historic. Lots of bands came thru there on their way up the ladder.
