  1. I played an Ibanez 6/12 doubleneck back in the 1980's and you're not kidding about the weight. It felt like I had a cinder block hanging from my neck. I loved the sounds, though. Nowadays, I rock out with a Hofner Shorty travel guitar that weighs less than 3 pounds. Not as versatile, but a lot easier on my 60-year old back muscles.
  2. Biggest problem for electric guitarists when playing outside in bright sunlight--trying to discern what the digital readout is on the multi-effects pedal. I had to make a little tent from cardboard to put over top of mine, which helped a little, but I'm still basically guessing.
  3. You hate polka? Inconceivable! I perform regularly in a local polka band during OktoberFest season, make a ton of money and have a great time. I'm not the accordion player (I sing in German and play tenor banjo)' but our accordion player can tear tha thing up. We not only do traditional polka music, but polka versions of "Sweet Home Alabama" (Sweet Home Bavaria), "Play that Funky Music, White Boy" (Play that Polka Music, Weiss Junge), and bunches more. I have heard accordion played in many other styles, but, to me anyway, it just seems to sound best when backed by an oompah beat.
  4. Used to happen quite a bit when I was a high school kid playing clubs and high school dances (I was much younger than the rest of the band). Now I'm old, fat and married. Never happens anymore. I wonder why? Not sure why you're not attracting the ladies anymore, but the reason I'm not is because I'm old, fat and married.
  5. Originally posted by blue2blue I wouldn't want to have to face you down at the Battle of the One Man Bands. Hey, this sounds like a challenge. What do you think? An HCGF Battle of the One Man Bands? I'm ready to go Mano a Mano.
  6. Craig, I really enjoyed the performance. Having done a one-man-band gig myself for many years, I know how tough it can be to stand naked (so to speak) in front of a crowd of people. The only complaint I have is that the visual effects had me flashing back to the mid-60's. Talk about bad acid trips...

I'd like to think that I'm a decent looking dude, 6'2" and in shape. I get more chicks when we aren't playing. It must be the music we play. Not girl/bar-whore friendly type of music. I think I scare them more than enchant them. You guys must be playing Bon Jovi and Blink-182 covers. I'll never forget this one gig we played where the singer for the horrible cover band before us had the balding-with-long-hair thing, was overweight, and wearing a FANNY-PACK! Well there was this smoking red head that was eyeing him up so I figured if she was into this wanker in the this excrutiatingly terrible band that she would be easy prey when my band went on. Well, after the show I tried shooting some attention her way backstage and she glided right past me towards the fanny-pack guy. Yeah, he left with her shortly after. That's when I realized I am doomed and just gave up trying. I'm thinking she might have just had a thing for fanny packs.
