I'm playing the downtown Tree Lighting in town and I have to have about 5-6 christmas carols for them. Trouble is I've never done christmas carols before and I don't know which ones translate well on geetar. I'm doing Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt for sure but I need some assistance in suggestions.

So. Assistance?

Guitar tunes Xmas songs.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Santa Claus Is coming to Town

Rudoph The Red Nosed Reindeer

I'll Be Home For Christmas

and as mentioned

Blue Christmas

White Christmas

I find that Frosty The Snowman, Let It Snow and The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) and even Have Yourself A Merry Little... all have "jazz" changes that might be hard to master or remember. For instance if you do Chestnuts in Eb, the first verse briefly modulates to G via Am11/D7, then a II/V to Gb, then a II/V back to Eb - as I say all in the first verse. So keeping it simple, with songs that play themselves is key IMHO.

As to suitable guitar carols I can think of a couple, must be a few more as well...

Oh Christmas Tree

Silent Night
