As to singing "darker" songs... When you hear an owner say that someone tends to sing "darker" material, it's never meant as a compliment. Ordinary pub audiences, sadly perhaps, prefer muzik lite. Members Slight Curvatur Posted March 9, 2012 Members Share Posted March 9, 2012 My brother and I have done darker pieces for open mics. I did one with an Indian flare once. It went over well. The dark pieces were slower with an odd rhythm. It was positive because it was different. People don't remember the stuff that sounded like everything else. They remember what was different.
