Members imtheking
Hey, I live in the DFW area, and the three places I played at religiously all closed down. I haven't played a show in almost 6 months and its very frustrating. What's a good and efficient way to find venues?
Members ChiroVette
Hmmm What kind of music do you play? What's the configuration of your group? And do you have some Youtube clips I can hear some audio on? What is your target audience? Probably a dumb question: what is DFW?

Have you asked around with other giggers, at music stores, etc? Have you driven around in the bar/club/restaurant districts to check out the businesses? Members Bob Dey
I had two steady places both get sold within the same month about 7-8 years ago. I got in touch with an agent that a former bandmate used and it got things rolling again for a while at least. One gig often leads to another. sometimes you get lucky and they fall in your lap. Other times calling places and dropping off demo CDs doesn't amount to much. Bars/restaurants close down or stop having entertainment continuously, so you can't get to comfortable with steady repeat business. You should first concentrate on a few places that you really would like to play at. But if nothing turns up in DFW, you might have to travel a little further. I would think there's lots of opportunities in your area, but lots of competition too. Sometimes filling in for someone can kickstart the flow of gigs coming in. I haven't played a show in almost 6 months and its very frustrating. What's a good and efficient way to find venues? I live in Buffalo, NY...a quick search provided the following in Dallas: http://www.iloveftw.com/music.html http://governor.state.tx.us/music/directory/venues/venues http://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=musicvenues&find_loc=Fort+Worth%2C+TX Dude just go to town and start booking. I use to be "phone guy" for a living. Set a decent fair price and start cold calling. Tell them you play all over the place, you have great gear and you're looking to add a few more dates to your calendar. We use to call it a "Talk Off". Basically just sell it. Obviously there's isn't a shortage of places to play. Good luck!
