Members madball24
What kind of amp should I get to power my jbl jrx 112 monitors? they are rated at 250 rms and 1,000 peak. Right now i have crown xls 802 powering them and people are telling me that amp is to powerful for them. What amp do you recomend?

Members VanR
I use a GX3 or a RMX1450 to power a pair of those. Wouldn't put much more than 300 watts into them myself.
Members agedhorse
Anything (quality) rated at about 300 watts RMS is a good match. The GX-3 is an excellent choice.
Members VanR
GX5 is rated 500 watts at 8 ohms though.
Members Shaster
"Recommended Amplifier Power : 250 W to 500 W into 8 ohms" from the details page of the JRX 112M web page. If you read between the lines it seems they're saying "we'd like to say don't put much more than 250 watts into these, but our marketing guys are making us say they'll handle 500". Better safe than sorry. 300 sounds good.
Members RoadRanger
I just "upgraded" a rig that had an RMX2450 for monitors to a pair of RMX850's = 200wrms/ch @ 8 ohms. It's still stupid loud .
Members twangin6
I have been running four of them with an xti-2000 for about two years. Plenty of volume.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 15, 2009 CMS Author Share Posted August 15, 2009 For monitors, anywhere from 200-300w is fine. Don't try to put a lot of bass or kick in those mixes.
