Members flanc
I need a few more 15-20 ft black extension cords. Anyone know a good source? I'm not opposed to making them...but I don't have any cable/ends on the shelf.
Members TimmyP
http://www.cameltraders.com/index.php?cPath=60_39 or a local electrical supply house. Use PowerCon connectors instead of Edison connectors anywhere that you can.
Members BillESC
I make all my own using Leviton all black connectors.
Members flanc
are these good prices? http://cgi.ebay.com/Hubbell-5266CM2-10-PACK-Black-Male-Edison-Connector-NEW_W0QQitemZ330362564122QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4ceb24ae1a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_2974wt_940 http://cgi.ebay.com/Hubbell-5269CM2-10-PK-Black-Female-Edison-Connector-NEW_W0QQitemZ370264778235QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item56358025fb&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_2998wt_940
Members agedhorse
Don't use PowerCons unless you carry spares. They are not off the shelf stocked items in most areas.
Members flanc
Andy, I agree. Powercons are great, but I'm a weekend warrior that needs to route three or four circuits of 20/15 amp power around my stage. It will mostly be presented to me as a three seperate edisons on my distro or as seperate circuits near/on the stage. I have a few fifty foot, heavy duty extension cords for longer runs, but my stage extension cords are in bad shape and, now, in short supply. So, I'm in the position of either making or procuring a new "batch" of them. I'm just trying to make a educated choice regarding how to proceed. I'd like cords that are tough, black, and coil nicely....and of course I'd like all that at the best price point possible.
Members BillESC
Frank, That's a decent price for the Hubbles, however, I find (IMHO) the stress relief mechanics are lacking compared to Levitons offering.
Members flanc
Thanks Bill. I look around a bit longer and see if anyone sources anything more attractive.
Members BillESC
The Levitons are less than two bucks more. I've got some 25 year old cables still working weekly with them.

Members Coaster
lowes in my area has extremely piss poor selection of inlets/outlets and cable ends. fortunately there are a couple electrical wholesalers with city desks here that have anything you could dream of for reasonable price. look for those in your town. Members flanc
We have a Lowes and Home Depot nearby...the selection is poor at both.
Members B. Adams
Anything you find at Lowes, Home Depot, etc, is going to be either poor quality, high priced, or both. You can find decent stuff, but it's usually much more expensive than it should be. They tend to stock halfway decent Pass & Seymour connectors, but my preference has always been Hubbell and you won't find those in typical hardware stores. Find a good electrical wholesaler in your area, or order online, it's really the only way to get what you want.
