Members Misha
There's a crack but during summer the gap is less apparent. Is it the best time to get it fixed while it is less dry? (I'm in Quebec, Canada)?
Members Freeman Keller
Yes, I always try to get a guitar rehydrated before I try to fix a crack like that. If its been stable at a moderate humidity like 40% or so that would be best. Your repair tech will try to glue the crack and will probably put some little wooden cleats inside to reinforce it. Members Misha
Thank's for your help, Freeman! I called a luthier today. I'm waiting for is call back. I hope he can fix it soon and I hope the repair won't deteriorate the sound. The Larrivee sounds very good even with the crack and the neck is great! Members Grant Harding
I'm originally from Ontario and I remember how brutally dry it gets indoors in the winter. My Dad used to run a humidifier in the basement, but my guitars still had issues. I'd definitely use a case humidifier and keep the guitar cased when not playing. I wouldn't expect any noticeable sound impact from that fix if it's done right.
Members Idunno
From the high E string pin to the bottom of the bout? Is that the crack? Good crack! I'd get a (removable vinyl) caricature done of a guy trying to snort it and stick it on there. But, that's me...and possibly TAH if he were here. Members Misha
Now, I keep my gyuitars in a room with a humidifier. I learned the hard way, though! :-/
Members Misha
Yes, the crack is close to the high E string! I must admit that I've had to look in the dictionary to figure what you meant by your caricature snoring! ;-)
