Members Grant Harding
You're right, a locking nut is still more solid because the string can still bind in the nut with locking tuners. I prefer the feel of locking tuners and a normal nut because it has a slightly "spongey" feel the more you bend, whereas a locking nut feels stiff and unforgiving. I'm pretty sure it's just a familiarity thing though.
Members DeepEnd
. . . - One minor thing about the trem is that the arm simply threads into the cam and when its tight its pointing straight back. If you put it in the "action" position it flops down by the controls. I guess lots of trems are like that but something like the Bigsby where it stays in place seems like a better design for the player. I'll bet Mr. Kahler could come up with something.... A Floyd has a threaded collar that keeps the arm in position. I improvised something similar with a hex nut on my Fernandes while I still had it. I'm surprised the Kahler doesn't have something similar.
