Members 1001gear
Might be confusing for people that need it.
Members twosticks
Yes, it is useful. Shows some very simple basic tips: dismount head, clean bearing edge, remount head and tighten in star pattern, etc. And it helps drummers learn that the toms should be tune in around third octaves from each other. The confusing part for many drummers and especially beginning drummers is the note thing. Most drummers read notes as time; eighth note, quarter and sixteenth note. When you say "from that E note, go up to the next octave but then change it to B flat" You might loose a lot of self taught or beginning drummers in my opinion. But your article is a good starting point. It at least shows what drummers should be listening for when tuning their drums. Tuning drums well is an art, I'm still learning but I'm getting better. It took me many years to really be able to hear the notes somewhat in the drums. My only real bug though is that snare drum sounds crappy, correct note or not, it sounds like a Banshee in a bear trap.
Members Drummer44
Seems to me many would find it useful. Last time I tuned my current kit, I just made it sound the way I like it. When I get a few minutes, I think I'll check note (pitch) values against those recommendations to compare... -D44
