Members Khoifish321 Posted January 7, 2009 Members Share Posted January 7, 2009 This is an old one, but I bought a Mesa Boogie Single Rec off of hvymtl939 in early November 2008. The transactions went smooth, but something was wrong with the amp from the start.. or atleast when I received it. The packing on the amp was very shoddy, and when I opened it up, the tubes were scattered about. Well, plugging the amp in first, the volume was shot. I had to put everything to max to get a sound out of it, and even then it was very low. The distortion and everything was buzzy and the notes died out very quickly. I recently went back to see what was up with the amp, and I changed out all the preamp tubes, and the tone did seem to make it a bit better, but I still had to have all the volume levels maxed to get a higher volume. It still wasn't loud at all. I would say it was the equivalent to my Marshall being at level 1. Channel 2's volume was lower. I've changed the powertubes as well and it didn't do anything at all... I asked him if anything was wrong, and he told me no. I don't think that it could get damaged too much during the shipping as well since it came with a roadcase... Any tips on what I can ask the seller or get some compensation? Maybe that's the reason he sold it so cheap, $710 shipped with a roadcase...
