Maybe some of the old Maestro Fuzzes like the Fuzz-Tone or Brassmaster (or the current B:Assmaster clone from Malekko).

I remembering reading somewhere that Keef used the Fuzz-Tone for the main 'Satisfaction' riff just to hold a spot for later brass instruments.

I've heard this too. Apparently wah pedals were originally intended to mimic horns as well.

Yes. Or at least they created a similar sound to a muted trumpet, and this was a selling point. This is where the Clyde McCoy thing comes in- Clyde was a trumpeter who used a plunger or harmon mute on his trumpet to create a "wah-wah" sound. Since the Vox Clyde McCoy wah was the first pedal of its kind, it wasn't possible to get a guitarist of sufficient stature to put their name to it, hence the trumpet-(and not guitar) playing McCoy is the person with his name on the pedals...

wasn't there a so called Tromboner Fuzz ...

can't remember exactly

Trumpet Fuzz by Mellowtone?

Anyway, wasn't Clyde McCoy a trumpetter? Hence the name of the Vox wah pedal. Does a wah pedal sound like a trumpet is another question.

This is pretty close I think.

Edit: This is a pretty old thread! Relevant to my interests regardless...
