Members almost enough
I'm looking for an effect to get my guitar to sound like brass instruments. Do you guys know of any?
Members pbone
Yes. Some fuzzes will do this. Play on the bridge pickup, and then pick as close to the bridge as possible. Above the 12th fret is good too. Sounds like a trumpet.
Members THeLoveGun
Octave -2 down fuzz (eg, glitch computer) + Fuzz Factory.you overload one signal to another, next thing you know you got a tuba out of yer guit-er.
Members steinwand
wasn't there a so called Tromboner Fuzz ...can't remember exactly
Members Orwell
Maybe some of the old Maestro Fuzzes like the Fuzz-Tone or Brassmaster (or the current B:Assmaster clone from Malekko). I remembering reading somewhere that Keef used the Fuzz-Tone for the main 'Satisfaction' riff just to hold a spot for later brass instruments. I've heard this too. Apparently wah pedals were originally intended to mimic horns as well.
Members almost enough
I think I found what I needed. It's not spot on for brass, but it's an awesome sounding fuzz. It's the Paul Trombetta Design Toybox or Mini-boner or Tromboner.
Members english_bob
I've heard this too. Apparently wah pedals were originally intended to mimic horns as well. Yes. Or at least they created a similar sound to a muted trumpet, and this was a selling point. This is where the Clyde McCoy thing comes in- Clyde was a trumpeter who used a plunger or harmon mute on his trumpet to create a "wah-wah" sound. Since the Vox Clyde McCoy wah was the first pedal of its kind, it wasn't possible to get a guitarist of sufficient stature to put their name to it, hence the trumpet-(and not guitar) playing McCoy is the person with his name on the pedals... Members MathiasWilliam
Buy a MIDI pickup for your guitar, then buy a module which has a trumpet sound. I was playing with one at school, it had brass, piano, percussion, all sorts.

Members damacy
wasn't there a so called Tromboner Fuzz ...can't remember exactly Trumpet Fuzz by Mellowtone? Anyway, wasn't Clyde McCoy a trumpetter? Hence the name of the Vox wah pedal. Does a wah pedal sound like a trumpet is another question. [video=youtube;04vrAGfQSv8] This is pretty close I think. Edit: This is a pretty old thread! Relevant to my interests regardless...

Members ptdesign
There's a mini-bone tourbox going on TGP right now if you want to try the ultimate trumpet fuzz for free. ? http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=916446 this vid is of the Bone Machine. Exact same pedal with battery space. The trumpet stuff is just one of the things they do very well.[video=youtube;pH2og4Tmauk]
Members TheFigurehead
Cant help you much in the fuzz dept... but I can recommend that half the secret to mimicking a trumpet, is to try to play like a trumpet.
