Members hooya
You can't. Not if you still want a window. You could get really expensive brand new windows that are triple pane and good insulators, as they'll insulate against sound as well, but with your existing windows your best bet is ti simply fill in the space between them completely with foam. And even then it'll only mute it a little.
Members shepherdspy
Tape a couple of pillows to your head with duct tape. Should do the trick.
Members MojoFilter
It's always best to get noise at it's source. Sew your lawn with anti-personnel landmines. One big boom, and then a whole lot of silence. Easy enough to edit out the blast, as well...
Members Walters9515
Where can i get really really thick FOAM? I went to Target and got bed foam but its really thin , unless i roll it up and use duck tape to make it thick
Members mlabbee
Foam won't help much - you need mass to absorb the vibration. Two layers of drywall should work.

Members tonedover
frankly, in most structures you will still have volume coming through the walls as well
Members MegaTom
how can i open up my window if i have 2 layers of drywall? And there lies the Catch-22. If you soundproof the window, it will no longer be a window.
Members Walters9515
Will a big thick piece of foam work as the size of the window?
Members tonedover
it will help a tiny bit. my assumption is that you are recording stuff. if its that loud you will not be able to put foam in your window sill and think that it will sound proof it. how about you record at night when there wont be gardening outside? Members Walters9515
no nothing to do with recording i'm trying to Sleep and get peace and quiet in my apt. Members MegaTom
Will a big thick piece of foam work as the size of the window? By itself? No, not really. Foam works great for controlling reflections in an already well-engineered & soundproofed room. I suppose that if you found some expensive, super-high density foam, it could do the trick to block the sound from coming through that window... but then you have the problem of the actual walls around the window not being soundproof, which is very likely in like 99.9999% of all apartment buildings. Members spentron
I stopped over 90% of the sound through a window with a sheet of 1/8" thick Masonite, overlapping the wall all around. However it was a leaky window, easy to improve upon.
