I always like sprucing up standard major/minor chords with added 9s. Clayton John knows dis voicing for a Dmajadd9. ;)

I like this one too, standard major/minor chords with a little jazz to 'em are always fun, I haven't played a standard major/minor bar chord in a while.

I like a lot of voicings that involved
open strings and with fretted notes higher than the open strings on lower strings.
Gives a really big open sound to them. Triads on A,D and G rock with E, B, e drones

If you raise the C to a C# then it would sound less wonky since there's already a G# and two F#'s in there.

 

 

Yeah, that's what I meant, however sometimes tension and dissonance like that would sound cool when resolving to another chord.
