Members iamthearm
i always ran od first in my chain and have been without a standard od for some time. today i ran my new mxr classic od after my fuzzes and i got some seriously bad ass sounds happening. what do you prefer, and why? Members nankuamedha
It depends on the pedals being used. With Big Muff type fuzzs I use overdrive first, with Fuzz Face type things I generally run them into overdrives. But it all depends...

Members Califa
I use overdrive first. It seems to me any overdrive after diminishes any sputter the fuzz has going on.
Members TheQuietWilds
I run a really clean amp at the moment (Roland JC), and I feel like most fuzzes do better into a breaking up amp, so I tend to prefer running an OD after the fuzz to simulate that. However, for certain less 'traditional' fuzz textures the opposite works as well. It definitely comes down to taste and context.

Members Ming Chow
Boost --> Fuzz --> OD Don't use all three, at the same time. I like the boost first, cause some of my guitar's pups are low output. So the boost kinda gets them up to speed.

Members Chaos Realms
I recently acquired an AMT California Sound, and I LOVE the sounds I'm getting running my Swollen Pickle and AB Synth into it. It's basically a virtual mesa with cab sim, made for direct soundboard connection, so it's a really great studio stacker even with the gain way down low. AMT is one thing the amp forum totally scooped HCFX on, no pun intended.

Members Elessar [Sly]
I use my Fulltone Octafuzz (set to octafuzz) turned right down to boost my distortion to get a really cool low sounding fuzz on the lower strings. Either that or Just boosting normally on Fuzz mode for general soloing.
Members ΨWindingΨ
In most cases Overdrive my Fuzz. But that's not to say you can't get interesting tones doing the opposite. I also like to run mild overdrives into gainier overdrives or distortions. I think doing the other way around sounds thin.
Members SnorkelMonkey
In the past I've used two OD's.One right before the amp as (get this) a tube overdriver. And one earlier in the chain as a boost/distortion right before a fuzz to push the fuzz into silly sustain.

Members SnorkelMonkey
thisI'm the opposite. Big Muffs have a ton of gain on tap. I don't remember having night and day results putting an overdrive or boost in front of one. Fuzz Face's and their larva on the other hand? Like having two totally different fuzzes on the table.
