Members nick f
So when I play at the studio I need a volume boost for the solos, and I know exactly what your going to say, use an EQ pedal. well I already do use one in the loop but i actually use it for shaping my tone, so turning it on and off for a boost is a no go. Now I really don't want to go out and spend x amount of dollars on a Grande Boost or another EQ or etc..... I have sitting in my pedal pile a Boss MD2 and a Digitech Grunge. My thought is if I put either one in the loop and put the distorsion and gain boost to 0 and use the volume knob as a boost. Has anybody done this before? Did it work or did it sound like crap? Members Pewtershmit
I'd want something a bit more transparent. I've used an SHO in the loop before, worked fine.
Members gambit
both of those pedals have too much gain even at zero.
Members Dr.Picklebottom
it would be a matter of how much tolerance youd have for those pedals coloring your tone. your call.

Members nick f
Hey pewterschmit that was a little harsh dude were not recording at the studio, just rehersing. yeah with the pedal upfront all I'm getting is more distorsion, compression and feedback. I also have a joyo ultimate drive. do you think that would work better in the loop, I believe thats more of an OD pedal than a distorsion pedal. Members Urinate Forever
try the ultimate drive in front with ur gain on min and ur level to taste. that's my suggestion. if you put it in the loop, i don't see it affecting it in the way you want it to. Members BAXANDALL
Keep your guitar volume knob at 75% then turn it up during the solo? Sorry for Pewt. He's angry about having a male admirer.
Members nick f
I did try the ultimate drive at home with my HT5 in front and there was no precevible volume boost, just more distorsion. Now on the HT5 I have the gain at 8 already so i well into saturation in the preamp
Members Dr.Picklebottom
yeah if youre using relatively high gain anything in front, gain pedal/ guitar volume knob will just add gain, not volume. try the ultimate drive in the loop. Members macadood
just buy a cheap clean boost maybe theres not enough clean headroom on your amp and it'll overdrive regardless
