For a bit over $1,300, you can get a brand new Leslie G-27.

It has two speeds, a crossover and a horn and drum... but no internal power amp. You'll pay closer to $1,500 for the G-37, which has a built-in 100W hybrid (tube preamp tube, SS power amp) amp built in, but which basically looks identical to the G27 - from the front you'd be hard pressed to tell 'em apart.

Of course, if you REALLY want to do it right (and have $3,200 to spend), they still make the legendary 122A.

I'll mention it not because it's my favorite, but because it's not horrible, and it's very inexpensive - relatively speaking:


Danelectro Rocky Road. Mono only, but it does have a ramp switch. The R44 mod makes a big difference IMO.

 

 

I had the mod done, but as I said above, I can't really use it live because it's not ergonomic and because the ramping is too slow.
