I know I might get flamed for that, but what most non Americans and probably a huge number of Americans do not realize is that Louisiana follows a French legal system opposed to the fundamentally British system the rest of the country follows. If you've ever been there, New Orleans IS NOT a fair representation of the rest of our country. I'm not putting down the people of New Orleans... I have family there (not natives), but it's a different world. It has a French Socialist approach to everything.
