Maybe you're not just looking or just don't want to see? At this moment over 20 countries have promised their aid, including EU, Japan, Venezuela, Kanada and Australia. So implying that europeans don't want to help is practically a lie.

Then you need to look again.... AFAIK, every EU country has offered help, Norway (where I live) as well.

Well in defense of the US, this is only one socio-economic area of the entire country.

When your whole country is the size of Delaware it's pretty easy to keep things under wraps all the time.

The richest nation of the world should have adequate protocols and yes it is one of the ironies of the US so much wealth yet the south in too many areas could be considered third world in terms of quality of life for its citizens.Capitolism is not without its price-no pun intended.

Why is it that some people here get aggresive against Europeans every time someone presents a view that differs from the one "you" have? :)

"Go {censored} yourself", "Don`t come crying..", "Where would you be if we hadnt...."

Get real, please. This is a terrible tragedy, and instead of shooting your mouths to someone across the pond, do something constructive with the anger, go to NO and try to help. It sure is easier for you than for us over here... :)

didn't they see it coming? where is the help? where is the gun control? without the 'freedom' to by guns in a supermarket there would be no shooting at helicopters or raids by junkies...

well whatever, {censored} is really {censored}ed up and i hope everything turns out well!

Don't be stupid. Gun control isn't the answer to gun crime. The only people that are affected by new gun laws are law abiding citizens that own firearms. By definition a criminal is one that has no regard for the law. Who told you that one could buy guns in a supermarket? That's just plain ridiculous. It's this kind of ignorance that gives firearm enthusiasts a bad reputation. On behalf of all law abiding American gun owners.... piss off!

Third World countries are classified because of their GDP rate and Per capital income....not by natural catastrophe.

I know this isnt important but actually the 'third world' phrase got its meaning during the cold war with West/East being the first two and the predominantly Southern countries, being the third...

Please dont think of me as an annoing smartass-wannabe

First of all... New Orleans and the rest of the state of Louisiana is FRENCH! I know I might get flamed for that, but what most non Americans and probably a huge number of Americans do not realize is that Louisiana follows a French legal system opposed to the fundamentally British system the rest of the country follows.

If you've ever been there, New Orleans IS NOT a fair representation of the rest of our country. I'm not putting down the people of New Orleans... I have family there (not natives), but it's a different world. It has a French Socialist approach to everything.

Just thought I'd make that clear.

He isn't just offering a different "view". He's basically laughing in the face of our country while we're in the midst of struggling with a disaster of unprecedented proportions.

Nope, "go {censored} yourself" still works.

I get so tired of this overly patriotic drivel that we spew forth on a consistent basis. As an American I am saddened by how this event has been handled by our country. Consdering our history as a nation and as a people though, I am not surprised.

I've seen alot of them...my favorite "The US is the richest 3rd world country..blah blah blah."

Whatever. There's always something wrong with the US, doesn't matter who, what, where or how. Face it, here in the US, we have it all, the good the bad and the ugly.

"Oh say can you see..."

Most Americans can't recite the "whole" national anthem.

Wow, what a great world we'd live in if everyone shared this attitude.

When this is all said and done you'll see what America's new 3rd world citizens donated more money than a lot of countries have. Not money from corporations, I'm talking about money from everyday people like me who give cash, people who donate needed items and offer their homes to people who lost everything.

At this point I could give a {censored} what how European countries think of us, we'll take care of our own and will still take care of all of the unthankful mother{censored}ers in other countries as well.

I am proud to be an American and served my country in time of war. I spent 11 years in the Marine Corps, but the US could do alot better taking care of our own and I say this even if there was no national disaster. Out nation was in crisis before the hurricane.

Illegal immigration

Poor Education system

deterioration of decent paying jobs

We are a nation of non-recoverable debt

Obesity

Children exposed to pornography at young ages

As much as people of the US don't want to swallow there pride, we have serious issues which are given a much lower priority than things that are happening on the other side of the world.

you really are ignorant arent you?

few things:

if ANYTHING you would call its a third world STATE, not country. and even still your idea of what constitutes a 3rd world country is way off.

all civilzation is not almost gone, its submerged. do you not understand that New Orleans is BELOW SEA LEVEL?!? Its really flippin hard to drain water, she some how you have to magically make it shoot up and out to sea level. think about that. They have gigantic generators that pump constantly when even the smallest amount of rain comes down, why? BECAUSE ITS ALREADY BELOW SEA LEVEL.

this isnt food for thought, how could it be when it lacks any true thought at all.

it would help to educate yourself to the geography and demographics of the nation of people you are taunting before revealing your ignorance in such a childish, classless manner

without delving into minutia of the facts that are readily available for anyone's study prior to the act of posting such dribble, a simple 'no' will answer you question decisively

the actions of those individuals 'raiding, looting' are exactly that--actions of individuals

why you cannot distinguish between the actions of individuals and the actions of 'civilisation' seems a better question

do you realize the rudeness and insensitivity with which you've presented your uninformed opinion? i'm certain there are many persons who would enjoy an intelligent discussion of events unfolding in the affected areas

based on the statements i've read from your posts so far, i'm not so certain you'd be the person to particpate in that discussion

show some class

Media is the same everywere, and most people including those here in the you take it as gospel. Those are the visual things that sell commercial time, not patient people sitting behaving themselves. I just wish people could enguage in critical thinking for themselves instead of basing there opinion of of a snippet they see on TV.
