I personally think God and Jesus are a bit above being "offended" by "curse words"..

I think they just want everyone to try and be good to each other.

I'm not a "Christian"..I guess I'm not "anything" but I do believe in God. One of my beliefs is if God didn't want something to be...it wouldn't exist..that goes for swearing too

but thats just me

And BTW, I was raised in a Christian home, school, etc. I don't go shoving supposed "Christian" ideas down peoples throats, and nothing pisses me off more than self-righteouss "believers".

And there is NOTHING sinful about drinking a beer! Drink up! Becoming a degenerate who beats their wives n kids, that's when "sin" takes on meaning. Or telling someone to go {censored} off for that matter. It's a figure of speech, nothing more, and I'd be willing to bet that it was a figure of speech which was not around when the book was written, especially considering English wasn't even the spoken language.

And does saying gosh darnnit, or heck really change what you're saying? If you say what the "heck" are you doing, you are intending to say the same thing as what the "hell" are you doing, etc. Literalism is a dangerous, overused way of interpreting things. :D

So being able to rape a child is OK with God because it exists?

Your logic is way scary.

Of course I don't think that is ok along with a lot of other {censored} that that happens in the world

I don't think ANYONE from any religion understands why things are the way they are - but they are...the world is a {censored}ed up place - there must be some reason for it that we don't understand...if you believe in god.

the main point of my earlier post was to make the original poster feel better and to say that I don't think god cares about random words being thrown around that aren't hurting anyone. I don't want to get into a big discussion about god and all

The above and first post was indeed a very appropriate response
to a possible overreacting zealot, good job.

Yea...It's easy to say curse words when you get pissed but do
any of you honestly think it's ok to say SH-- and F--- around your
kids,parents and at church ?

Probably not. As a Christian...I try and avoid using these practices
around EVERYBODY all the time out of respect.
True practicing Christians aren't ministered to say these words
and when we say them it makes us all look bad.

To each his own though and I'm not trying to judge anyone
I'll leave that to the heavens. I'm no goody two shoes and have
done things some of you would blush at but I wont fool any
of you or myself on these matters...it's not right.

Youll understand why it's not right the first time your 5 yr old
daughter says the F-word in Walmart cuz she learned it from you.
Or if you really read the scriptures or if you attend church regular.

God gave us freedom of speech and freedom of choice and Jesus
fulfilled the atonement so we now can repent thankfully.
Make no mistake though people do judge you by what you
say and do and when you speak foul things it's recognized
as wrong and SOME will be offended.

End of rant...Thank God for bringing us music and technology.
Rock on !!!

I understand your point, but again, I think dropping f-bombs is still more of a social taboo than a religious argument. Would it be understandably inappropriate to go in front of a church congregation and start cursing? Yes, but its not necessarily sinful is my opinion. Its a social vulgarity, not something that will land you in hell. That being said, Christianity is about respecting each other as well, so respecting each other by not using a word deemed inappropriate by social standards is totally understandable, and thats where I think the argument gets twisted. I still think people preaching to others and labeling it as sinful is putting an incorrect spin on things.

Oh man, that one made me laugh.
