Members ElectricPuppy
It's my BFF's sister's boyfriend's fault. When I was 12, he was old enough to drive us to the county fair in the sister's Toyota Celica. The Celica with equipped with an 8-track, and he said, "hey, you guys want to hear something far out?" And he slapped in Tomita's Kosmos. I was mesmerized. Thus began my spiral into synths, and since then, I've collected these albums: Snowflakes are DancingPictures at an ExhibitionThe PlanetsKosmosThe Bermuda TriangleGreatest HitsBolero I know there's more, but they're DAMNED hard to find now. Anyone else into Tomita? Favorite track? Anyone? Bueller?

Members ElectricPuppy
Lately I've been wearing out the Bolero album. I didn't really "get it" when I got it (lulz), but now I like it a lot.
Members liliththekitten
Love his version of The Planets! he also redeemed Pachelbel's Canon but so did the Evangelion soundtrack.

Members Moogasaur
Don't forget Firebird! Heck! Get all of them... Great sounds, from a master synthesist...
Members ElectricPuppy
I'd love to get Firebird, but no one seems to have it. I think it's long out of print.
Members Moogasaur
You're right! I just checked, and Tomita CDs seem to be as rare as hen's teeth. I remember seeing them everywhere not long ago, for just a few dollars each. That's weird... With the proliferation of mp3 players, I wonder if all CDs are going to be hard to find now - I was recently looking for ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition, and I couldn't find it locally. Members mate_stubb
I used to play Snowflakes very low on my stereo to drift off to sleep every night. His string sounds using nothing more than a Moog modular were astounding. Here's a little clip I did on my modular that was inspired by Tomita. http://www.hotrodmotm.com/sounds/tomitaesque.wav
Gus Lozada
I almost grew-up by listening to Tomita.God, he was awesome. Unexplainable textures; my father, who played organ told me "it is made with organs" (given he did not know about synths back then) and I was "wow". Pictures at an Exhibition is my favorite. The Planets comes in a close second place.Bolero is a third. OMG. I want more TOMITA Now.

You may have to settle for vinyl, of which there are a few on Amazon.

Members Ghostpaw
Planets amazed me in a way the acoustic symphony versions never did. I used to put on a pair of headphones, cover my eyes and get lost in all the amazing and unexpected sounds.

The Infernal Dance is on iTunes. My favorite was the Bermuda Triangle. I had them all at one point.
Members ElectricPuppy
Cool. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I recently ripped my vinyl copy of Bermuda so I could listen to it again, had heard it in 25 years. I'm kinda letting it soak in, there's some pieces on it I really like, but there's some parts that annoy me. I suspect the annoyance will pass when I finally figure out what he's "saying" in those parts, lol.

I have that on right now, I actually bought it some time ago on iTunes. I wish he would have done some Delius, it would be perfect for Tomitizing. Members keybdwizrd
I had "Snowflakes are Dancing" on vinyl back in the 70's. I played the hell out of it - what an amazing recording! Haven't thought of it in years - now I have to track it down!
Members McHale
sorry, there's only one awesome music collection called Cosmos. The soundtrack from Carl Sagan's series. It was AWESOME synth music yet I never see anyone discuss it...
