Members almightycrunch
I almost {censored} myself the first time I plugged an American Deluxe Telecaster into a Vibro-King at Mars music in Bloomington Minnesota quite a few years back. WOW, all I can say. There, you have officially been schooled on the Vibro-King.
Members telephant
Essentially its SRV in a box. Seriously, with a Strat is so easy to nail that tone its ridiculous. Do you have any specific questions?
Members Weathered
The Vibro-King was an original amp designed by Bruce Zinky in the Fender Custom Shop. Based off of the SRV tone, it doesn't have a ton of clean headroom, which makes it great for blues and rock. 40 watts coming from a pair of 6L6 tubes (IIRC - I'm not 100% on that) going into 3 10" speakers. Anything else?
Members almightycrunch
It is GOD like IMHO, snap one up if you ever get the chance, they are few and far between, but they come up every so often. I just saw one going for 1350 or something like that, maybe on the HC classifieds??? wish I had the cash.
Members Weathered
The Vibrolux is a similar amp, and has one less 10" speaker. I owned one of those for a while, and it was equally cool.
Members almightycrunch
Im looking to swap my line 6 Vetta 1 combo for a small Fender tube combo, but I think im gonna have a tough time finding someone going in that direction.

(Along with Zakk Wylde). But as long as we're on him - that man can play the guitar. Like him or not, his tone is great and his chops are REDICULOUS at times. Members telephant
chops are REDICULOUS at times. I disagree... I wouldnt say he has ridiculous chops. Bonamassa has ridiculous chops. Mayer wishes he was SRV. That said I kinda like the TRY! album.
Members "sasquatch"
Oh, and while we're at it, if you're going to be checking out Vibro-Kings, I feel compelled to tell you to check out Victoria Amps (www.victoriaamp.com), like the 35310. If you are looking for more breakup, but still retaining great cleans, tweeds are great.

Members almightycrunch
I like Mayer's guitar playing very much, BUT, I cant even stomach listening to him sing for more than a half a song or so.
Members Weathered
Their break-up is killer. Still loud, but a little less overkill than the Vibro King.

Members Weathered
I know a guy who runs a '54 Strat (original) through one of those in a variety band up here. By far the best tone in town for what he does.

Members Weathered
This guy that I know is more of a funk/R&B player, but my jaw dropped the first time I saw him warm up. When I get my amp build finished, he's going to play the clips for me.
