Members Christobevii3
He recorded some of the songs with an AC30 on the velvet revolver albums. The other songs he mixed and layered fender amps cranked. He only uses marshall amps live though.
Members ESchmidt
Since you are in an apartment, why not try a good modeler. That should get you close without having to crank a tube amp.
Members duncan
why would you want slash's tone. it's nothing special.
Members Pavel
can an ac30 replicate it or not? You can get really close with some pedals and good tweaking!
Members AMSnell
why would you want slash's tone. it's nothing special. You fail at life Scott. Its the best tone ever, just listen to Appetite for Destruction with the left speaker muter... just Buy my amp if you want that tone, it gets pretty close, although the AFD tone was a modded Super-trem. Members rockapede
can an ac30 replicate it or not? You could possibly get close, but probably not at anywhere near apartment friendly levels.
Members Elric
Since you are in an apartment, why not try a good modeler. That should get you close without having to crank a tube amp. +1. As far as cranked Marshall tone @ apartment levels goes, a modeler is probably first choice. If you just insist on a traditional amp, look at some of the low wattage tube amps with a British voicing, there isn't much choice really.... I guess the other option would be a Hot Plate or other attenuator for use with a real Marshall. But IMHO, a modeler makes the most sense... Members freaksho
why would you want slash's tone. it's nothing special. +1 i don't know if his amps were modded to hell or what, but his marshall tones don't sound much like Marshalls to me. anyway, i say try a Boss SD-1 pedal in front of your AC30 and see what happens. won't cost you much. or you can even try it out for free if you get one from GC then return it if you don't like it. if that doesn't work something like a Traynor combo would be an inexpensive way to get it pretty convincingly at low volumes. especially if you use an OD to tighten things up. Members tlbonehead
can an ac30 replicate it or not?No is the correct answer, but if you get the reverb/delay really close and EQ correctly, you could get somewhat in the neighborhood. Its gonna be about as loud as a Marshall half-stack though.

Members Rodimus Prime
can an ac30 replicate it or not? you can't replicate his tone in an apartment. The closest thing you'll come to with your amp is putting a tonebone hot british in front.
Members tlbonehead
I never thought Slash was anything special....especially his tone Certainly not to the proportions that he is given.Average player with some decent hooks, decent tone, some really good tone, and a lot of image. Members ilovemystrat
okay, thanks everyone... i think i will save that for guitar school/guitar lessons instead. it would be wondeful to have an ac30/marshall stack (or both) but in an apartment which is about 17m^2... um ouch

Members -todgemistro-
I love Slashes tone on AFD, not so much on other albums though, it seemed to get a bit too fizzy and thin/harsh.
Members dennis138
Don't most Marshalls have a Master Volume these days? Wouldn't you be able to dial in a lot of gain and just turn the Master Volume down?
