Band and players that tune to E flat?

I'd venture to guess that maybe half of the blues/rock/pop acts use 1/2 step down tuning at least some of the time. I saw an old Toad the Wet Sprocket live clip where one of them forgot where they were at and started out FALL DOWN with a guitar tuned one way and the rest of the band came in tuned the other way(can't remember which but it obviously sounded hideous) They had to stop the song and switch one guitar.

All Opeth albums before Ghost Reveries are in E standard. Ghost Reveries is in the DADFAD tuning. Back on topic...

Yeah, Opeth is mostly E standard, with the odd drop D song (Demon Of The Fall, Blackwater Park). Ghost Reveries is mostly in open D minor. (IIRC, a couple tracks are in drop D, and Hours Of Wealth is in standard.)

 

Do Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse really count, though? Outside of their earlier material, they're 7 string guys. Trey is the first player outside of Vai I can think of who adopted the seven string; he was using it before Petrucci was...
