In my opinion you got lucky, I love the darker blue (unless its just the low quality photos that make it appear that way, or the lighting etc). Anyway, I'm jealous. I've got the LTD-1k of the same model, tobacco SB. We'll made guitars, very easy to play. I do have issues with the JB though. I have to rip that thing out. It doesn't have enough girth to it.
