Members OverDriven
I am debating on this subject as well. I really thought either the Seymour Duncan Full Shred or the Seymour Duncan Custom Custom. I think I would pair up the Custom Custom with an Alnico II Pro or Pearly Gates.Have any of you tried the Custom Custom at all?Cole Custom Custom for downtuning? Hmmm I don't know. I've played one, but not downtuned. I didn't particularly like it, but that's just me. I really don't like the sound of most Duncans in general though. They sound kind of flat to me. I mich prefer Dimarzios, specially for anything downtuned/modern. YMMV.

Members deldgeetar
Dimarzio Evo, Dimarzio X2N, Bill Lawrence XL500 will all do the trick. Duncan Distortion and Duncan Full Shred are pretty good too.
Members mhr74
{censored} the JB, the duncan distortion is such a better option for downtuning in mahogony. +1 on f the jb too dark IMO

Members Chrisjd
sh-6 = muddy as {censored} Are you kidding me? The sh-6 has tons of bite and cut with some rolled off low end. That pickups is clear as day.
Members SnaxSlingerAns
No one has mentioned Tom Anderson pickups. -A-
Members GodBlessTexas
DiMarzio Evo. I put one in my mahogany RG520 tuned to C standard, and it sounded awesome. Every other passive pickup I tried (and I have a box full of pickups from EMG, Duncan, DiMarzio, etc.) sounded muddy.

Members Brick
The tightest you will find without going active is the Duncan Full Shred. Otherwise a Duncan Distortion or Dimarzio Evolution.I can't even begin to imagine why people are throwing Duncan JB's in there as "tight". +

Members ericwylde
You're clearly doing something wrong You say that like its a bad thing :poke: didn't say that I like that chopper the sh-5 is way clearer than the sh-6 and there's a lot other of high output ceramic pickups without that amount of mud some may like it, but I prefer clarity over dirt the gibson 500t, for example, is a bit muddy too, and very close to the sh-6, but it's way more balanced
