Members R Anderson
Typically I would expect to run a decent tube preamp into a Power Amp or the effects loop of a Head or Combo Amp. What if anything do I risk by running my tube preamp into the FRONT of a combo amp? Specifically, I love my little Gibson GA 10 (which I run into a larger cab) but am considering running a Yamaha DG1000 preamp into the front to allow for more variety. Will it blow up the Gibson? Members thinkpad20
As long as you make the output level of the preamp roughly the same as that of your guitar, it shouldn't be a problem I think.
Members guitarbilly74
it won't cause any problems if you keep the output level low on the preamp but most likely it will sound like {censored}.. stacking guitar preamps is not a good idea
Members leadfootdriver
Just go into the effects return to bypass the combos preamp.

I don't think his amp has a loop which, btw, he did comment that he's aware of the usuall hookup in his original post.

Members tlbonehead
Should be fine. Keep the gain low, as mentioned.
