With your LP you've got the mahogany/humbucking thing covered. IMHO to add to your palette I'd consider one of the following:

1. Fender: Strat or Tele.

2. P-90 guitar like mybe an LP Junior or Special

3. Big Box: Gretsch or ES-175; or another jazz box of your liking.

Bbreaker, I know you love that ES but do 335's really sound that different than Pauls to you? Maybe I play with too much gain but certainly for distorted sounds they sound very similar to me.

My '69 335 sounds different than a Les Paul.

Some amps tend to take away a guitar's identity. I prefer amps that don't rob a guitar's natural tone.

It used to be an SG, but the SG is now my #1. (sold the LP - it was an Epi ZW LP)

Gonna get a Tele as my 2nd guitar, ala Unsane.

aahhh... unsane... :D

man i love that band. i saw them one time at the university of pittsburgh, and the guitarists amp didn't only blow up, it actually caught fire... now that's rock on the edge.

I used to have a Ibanez SZ Prestige as a backup, were closely matched with the thick mahogany body and non-Dimarzio pickups (Duncans, rare for an Ibby).

I even posted blind comparison clips once and though most people preferred the LP, everyone agreed they were damn close together.

Neck was similar too, except a bit faster. I could shred better on it.
