Members ledvedder
How are these cabs for straight ahead Marshall rock tone? I've read that they have a lot of low end and are good for drop tuning and such. But, I can't find much about other styles.
Members Dolf
I used one as my only cab for about 4 years. If you want a very big sound but only want to lug a 2x12 around, it's hard to beat.
Members ledvedder
I'm wondering if it will just be overkill for a 2x12. It is 62lbs.

Members anti-flag193
I sold mine a few months back. It was just too tight sounding for anything other than heavy music IMO.

Members theAntihero
I like mine for most everything, it can get a bit boomy on super clean stuff. Basically it just sounds bigger than any other 2x12 or some 4x12s ive played. If you want a fantastic 2x12 cab, this is most certainly it.
Members seantz
I've got one and I agree it can be a bit boomy. At band volume it's great for cutting through. Although very big sounding it does seem to lack some detail. Very very full but not necessarily the most clear sounding cab. Some of that huge bass response over powers other frequencies to my ear. I have one currently as my cab. I've run a Marshall JVM 410h, a dual rec, a dsl, and now a laney vh100r all through the cab. It sounded best with the JVM, I think the cab made up for some of the lowend i felt was lacking on the head. I was able to keep the bass at around 3.5 to four and still have a nice full low end. Members dmtnt
A buddy of mine uses one with a 6505+ in his cover band. They play everything from Van Morrison to Drowning Pool and the cab sounds great. He's got V30's in it.

Members Kreso
I use G-Flex 212 with Genz Benz El Diablo head and it does have a LOT of low end - I have to dial back the bass. Also, in combination with the head it does sound a bit "stiff" for the lack of better word...
Members Sordid1
I have used nothing but Genz benz g-flex cabs for the last seven years or so and I wouldn't use anything else. I rarely do brutal metal anymore, my cover band goes from old country and motown to some metal stuff and it does very well with all of it. With this cab I agree you need to turn the bass down some but it's one of the better sounding cabs I have ever heard. One thing when compared to a 4x12 you may want to get it off the floor. With the speakers down that low it can cut some of the highs a bit just because of where it is sitting.

Members ledvedder
How do you think it would do with a DSL 50 head? Does the sound spread, or is it projected at your knees? I used to have a Buzzbomb 212, and the sound didn't spread very well. It drove me nuts.

I have a DSL 50 head and a Genz Benz 2x12 I don't think these pair really well together. The cab has too much "sub" frequency low end, for me. I much prefer my Marshal 1936 2x12 cab. Can you tell me a little more about the 1936 cab? I've read that they're extremely directional and don't fill the room very well. Is this true? Members Marshalldsl50
DSL and GFlex sounds like so: http://www.netmusicians.org/?section=id&value=4482 I think thats a pretty standard rock sound..? (not metal or brutal sounding..?) I really miss that combo...but do not miss only having 1 channel that I use.. (the classic gain) For what its worth, when I picked up the cab the owner of the store was trying it out with Fender Reverb and it sounded really great.
