Members hcprimerib
So I'm tired of lugging a big rig in for scratch tracks during drum tracking. So I figure I got this POD XT sitting here, that should do the trick. My other guitarist used Amp Farm software. The result is the most god awful guitar tones I've ever heard. I don't know if my A.I.R. settings were off or what but the signal was so hot it was like having a fuzz pedal in the chain. I use it at home with Reaper and it doesn't sound bad. I can't figure out what the problem was. Here at home I stream over USB and it records fine. At the studio he took my 1/4" output and put it in a direct box. maybe that's what happened. How do people record with these things?

Members guitarbilly74
Yeah you don't need a direct box, just go straight into the console. You also should check your AIR settings, you should be able to get some very decent tones for scratch tracks.
Members BillyCorgan
I've always used the 1/4 straight into my interface. No problems.
Members '63-Strat
Yeah, I use the 1/4 inch output too. You need to do some post eq'ing with the podxt IMO. It's certainly good enough for scratch tracks, but for actual tracks I dunno. If I had some legit engineering/mixing chops, I'm sure it could be done well enough. Members tech21man
I didn't like the USB out because it was more or less, prone to drop outs all the time. Plus I don't know its technical specs. Just saying if you want to go 96/24 for a reason better to take the 1/4 out to a better soundcard!
