I mean, if someone listens to Morbid Angel, and wants to find more bands like that, it would be stupid to say "death metal", or "florida death metal"....you would just say metal, and that guy would have no problem finding exactly what he's looking for. Durr. While it does get pretty ridiculous, it's necessary. I'm not for "OMG ASSHOLE IT'S POSTMETALCOREPROGRESSIVEDANCESTEP GET IT RITE!!!111" nonsense, I'm also not a fan of people discussing death or thrash metal and someone popping in with "I love death metal! SOILWORK IS AWESOME!" And my vote is sludge. Which is metal. But nothing like Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Opeth, Cannibal Corpse, Death, ect, which are all different and shouldn't be classified the same.
