Beach Boys God only Knows

Rolling Stones Angie

Garth Brooks The Dance

Three Dog Night Pieces of April

I am sure some will laugh at this next one, But I can not help it

David Cassidy/Partridge Family I'll meet you halfway

There are many I could have listed, and my mood always changes But these are always at or near the top

I'm not laughing. David Cassidy/Partidge Family came out with some pretty good tunes. I recall some nice stuff done by Bobby Sherman, too, and also that zany group, The Monkees.

I recorded "Ode" the other day just to see if I could still sing it. It's in my top-10 fave list. Will probably submit for VOM one of these days. And like you, Backwater Blues gives me goosebumps. Oh, how I wish I could sing like that!!

I ain't laughing either, says the ABBA fanboy. I have several Monkees songs etched on my subconscious hard drive--among them: Here Comes Tomorrow, Pleasant Valley Sunday (in spite of its sophomoric theme), Daydream Believer, Valerie...I know there's others lurking in there. I don't hear 'em played on the radio much anymore, but when I do they make me feel good. And sometimes they just start playing in my head, totally unbidden.

And BTW: Happy T-Day to all y'all. This is an interesting thread--gives me insights. Reminds me of a great one TAH started a couple of months ago asking for a list of the 10 songs that would come up randomly on our Shuffles (or iTunes).

Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac

Oh! And for good measure: Tracks Of My Tears - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

hmm.. Five. That's a tough one to whittle down.

Well I am going to borrow the Behind Blue Eyes (who's version) from you there, and add to it: (In no particular order)

2. Hotel California - Eagles (as performed in the acoustic reunion tour)
3. End of the Innocence - Don Henley (Partial to the Jeff Bryant acoustic version)
4. Something to Believe In - Poison (Love Kevin Leary's acoustic arrangement of this. Sentimental significance.)
5. Patience - Guns & Roses (Can't resist that acoustic gem.)

I'd like to give "Running Away" by Midnight Hour an honorable mention.

I find it hard to cut a list down like this as there are so many that rival these as favorites, but I did my best. Heck I could have probably took up the 5 with the Eagles alone.

"Tear Stained Letter" Richard Thompson
"Rosalita" Bruce Springsteen
"The Musical Box" Genesis
"Crawling From the Wreckage" Dave Edmunds
"Mercury Poisoning" Graham Parker

I'm sure tomorrow would be a different list. But these are the five I could play in rotation all day long today.

Yeah, the Monkees. Our band does that song "I'm A Believer" that always gets a great crowd response.
