Members Exocaster
I love my NT5s. I've had excellent results with them as drum overheads, on guitar cabs, and on acoustic guitars. Very clear and natural sound without the harsh highs associated with inexpensive small-diaphragm condensers. They seem to offer a reasonably accurate reproduction of the source, at least to my ears, and truely shine when used in a good room. And the matched pairs are actually matched. Exellent all-around mic.
Members where02190
I beta'd both the NT-5 (supposedly a matched pair) and it's stereo cousin, the NT-4, and found them to be painfully brittle and lacking major in low end. In fact, they were so bad, I actually got another set of mics, as I was sure something was wrong with them, alas, the second set sounded exactly the same, and Rode confirmed that indeed the first set was fine. 4041's, now there's a killer SDC....
