Members GrantsV5
Hi guys,Just wondering what you guys thought was a fair price for strings. If the price was lower would it encourage you to change more often or would you not be bothered?
Members Aerys
Strings aren't exactly breaking the bank anyway. I just don't change that often because it's extra hassle
Members String Fever
price dosent matter, I am hard on strings, so I change them about once a month on my most used guitars, and 1 1/2 months on the less used guitars, also i buy em in bulk...about 20 packs at a time. i get a discount at the store when i buy em like that. Members aclarke
I change them before I play out, regardless. If a guitar isn't being played out often, it still gets the treatment once a month. Been like that for about a decade - and in that time, prices havn't changed all that much. I can't say I'd bother changing them more, regardless. No point, really.
Members ArKay
Laziness gets the better of me.
Members guitarkid∞
i change them pretty often as it is... price isnt an issue...
Frets99
It isn't string price... just laziness. There will be a rich man around when somebody figures out a universal setups that allows for quick easy string changes on any guitar. (Especially for strats!!) Members Sonnilon
Price isn't that much of an issue, but I think they're way overpriced for what they are.
Members supercow3
Strings arnt expensive, just the trouble of restringing it
Members C-4
I change strings before every gig. I buy them by the box (10-12 sets per box). I am not lazy, nor cheap, and my performance means everything to me when I play out. Ask yourself this: Why do I have good gear and practice to be better, then be cheap on one of the least expensive things I need to play and sound my best?! There really is no excuse, is there? Members tlbonehead
Nope. Strings are dirt cheap. I don't like new strings.
Members jerry_picker
10-packs of D'Addarios go for $30 on sale.Dirt, dirt cheap. I like strings that are all stretched and settled, and that takes a while.
Members batotman
Not even if they were free! Its a pain in the ass and my strings never go "dead" unless I buy {censored} brands like GHS or Ernie Ball.

Members Collapse
I hate changing strings and I like the sound better after they're on for a while anyway. I think my acoustic has had the same strings on it for about a year now.

Members angus_old
how much cheaper could they be? i'd like it if the d'addario chrome flatwounds were the same price as the regular roundwounds so i could try them without paying extra, but at least they're available
Members t60 fan
If all my guitars had Sperzels I'd change strings more often.
Members Edward
I change strings when they start to feel unplayable, rust really badly, or break. Most commonly, it's changing a string because it has broken. It can be up to several years between full-string set changes on my guitars.
Members vegas_jay
I change my strings about every 2 - 4 weeks, depending on how much I have been playing. Strings aren't very expensive and I like the sound of newer strings. I would probably change strings every 2 weeks, except I am not very fast at it and changing a set of strings probably takes me close to 30 minutes. Members jerry_picker
I have personally seen and played vintage 60's guitars with original flatwound lower strings that sound fabulous.
Members LaXu
I would just save money if they were cheaper. I change 'em around every 2 months or so..my playing time is spread over several guitars and my hands don't sweat much at all so I never really break strings and they last well. Changing strings is a real pain in the ass so I don't like doing it that much, which is why I wouldn't change 'em more often. Now, if locking tuners were cheaper then I would change strings more often!
